STEVEN TYLER “loved and hated” his judging stint on “American Idol”, celebrity news has learned.

How so, Steve?

When the Aerosmith front man announced that he was quitting the show (one day before fellow judge Jennifer Lopez made her announcement), his excuse was that he wanted to have more time to work on his band’s new album.

But there was actually more to it.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Tyler talked about some of the issues that influenced his decision to leave “American Idol” for good.

The rocker admitted:

“[It was] not my cup of tea.”

He continued:

“It was just hard work: seven-hour days and then I went and did the [Aerosmith] album for eight hours after that.”

In addition to the grueling hours, Steven also admitted that he wasn’t comfortable with the fact that the show wanted him to be the one to deliver brutal criticisms to the contestants—they wanted him to be the new Simon Cowell.

Steven said:

“The show’s about kids and what you do to nurture their talent. They wanted me to take the piss out of the kids and I don’t have that in me… That’s not what I’m about… That’s more about that other guy. Not me.”

But it wasn’t all bad. Steven admitted:

“I loved it and hated it. It was a great job. I sat next to J.Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life.”
