“I’ll do whatever the hell I want!”

Many jaws dropped when former lovers Rihanna and Chris Brown shared a kiss and a hug at the VMAs last week—a moment that came across as extremely meaningful since it happened just a few days after Rihanna’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she admitted that she still loved and missed her abusive ex.
Rihanna’s fans were outraged when she first began making contact with Chris again (via Twitter) last year, and many people—including Rihanna’s mentor, Jay-Z—have expressed their disappointment over their renewed friendship. But the “Where Have You Been” singer isn’t going to let anyone’s opinion stop her from being friends (or being romantically involved) with her ex… which is why she and Chris picked the most public occasion—the MTV VMAs—to show everyone that they just don’t care.
A source tells InTouch:
“It was deliberate [the kiss]… Rihanna’s way of saying, ‘I’ll do whatever the hell I want.’ Even after what he did to her, she still loves him, and she was flaunting it to everybody. She doesn’t care.”
The insider continues:
“Nobody understands their love, and anyone who gets close to either of them winds up getting hurt. They basically have the most twisted relationship every. At least they’re not sneaking around anymore. There’s no turning back after that kiss.”
