Demi Lovato graced the cover and did an interview for the upcoming issue of Teen Vogue. For their November issue, the new “X Factor” judge opened up about how she cleaned up her life after being released from rehab in January 2011.

It was a few months after she checked into a treatment facility for her “physical and emotional” issues—right after she punched a female dancer at her tour with the Jonas Brothers—and clearly, she had to reject all the bad energy that came from the “darkest time” of her life… including fake friends who only recognized her for her fame.

We’re guessing they included those promoters who used to give the former Disney child star drugs and alcohol so she would go to their clubs and people from her team who just watched her break down.

Demi told the magazine:

“I did kind of a friend cleanse right after rehab, where I weeded out people who didn’t have my best interests at heart.”

And it looks like she made the right decision to start surrounding herself only with people who care about her well-being. She added:

“Now I have friends who love me for who I am and don’t care about what I’m doing … Some of them don’t even know my songs!”

Keep the positivity, Demi!
