“American Idol” producer NIGEL LYTHGOE confirmed the widely-reported feud between MARIAH CAREY and NICKI MINAJ, saying that it is definitely not a plot to influence ratings because the timing for that is just “wrong.”
Well that’s… logical.
You’ve heard about the rumored feud between new “American Idol” judges, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj… Despite them denying that they were at odds with each other, their recent curse-filled spat during unaired auditions of the upcoming season proved that there was indeed some serious heat between the two divas.
Still, some believable celebrity sources insist that it was all staged to boost curiosity and media attention before the premiere of the show’s upcoming 12th season in January.
Now the show’s own producer, Nigel Lythgoe—also known as THE person who could be orchestrating the whole thing—has denied such rumors, saying that it’s not fake.
He told TMZ:
“I have no idea why I would be doing it [for ratings] five months before the show went out.”
Not one to lie about the need for such promo strategy, he admitted:
“I would only do anything for ratings a month before the show went out. They’ve got my timing wrong.”
So if that wasn’t it, it looks like we can be expecting a crazy publicity stunt for the show around December.
Do you believe Nigel?
