In recent celebrity news, ANNE HATHAWAY admitted that she was once “obsessive” about looking terminally ill for her role in her upcoming film “Les Misérables.”
Months before Anne Hathaway started filming the latest movie adaptation of the legendary Broadway epic, “Les Misérables,” the actress had to undergo an extreme diet and a drastic hair makeover—which she is planning on keeping—as part of her transformation as Fantine.
Her female role required her to look gaunt as she was portraying a dying prostitute. Shockingly, Anne managed to stick to two thin of dried oatmeal paste a day and lose as much as 25 pounds during filming.
Hathaway shared about the grueling preparation to Vogue’s December issue:
“I had to be obsessive about it–the idea was to look near death.”
“Looking back on the whole experience–and I don’t judge it in any way—it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway.”
The actress went on to admit that when she finally finished filming, she was left in a “a state of deprivation — physical and emotional.” She revealed:
“When I got home, I couldn’t react to the chaos of the world without being overwhelmed. It took me weeks till I felt like myself again. ”
Thankfully, her new husband Adam Shulman was there for her. She told the mag:
“He gets what I do and who I am and supports me in it, and that’s pretty awesome.”
But then again, all her hard work could be worth it because there’s already some major Oscar buzz for the one-time Academy Award nominee!
While we wait until we see her in “Les Misérables” on Christmas Day, check out the pics from her Vogue cover shoot with Annie Leibovitz:
