ANNE HATHAWAY was actually discouraged by her director to lose weight for her emaciated character in “Les Miserables,” according to entertainment news.
It was all her!
But as it turns out, the weight loss was a result of her own obsession in looking as close as possible to her deathly ill prostitute character, Fantine.
“To be honest, I thought she was going further than she should, and I tried to discourage her.”
And he was right about talking her out of it because Anne was reportedly starving herself to lose as much as 25 pounds!
“Tom didn’t like what I was doing, but he understood why I was doing it. No one liked what I was doing. By the end, people were hugging me, and they would get emotional because I felt so frail.”
Nonetheless, she insists that it was all worth it. And true enough, she has been generating Oscar buzz despite her thinking that her performance of the musical’s famous song “I Dreamed A Dream” was just “eh.”
Comparing herself to Oscar-winning actresses, she admitted;
“I see the sort of work that people like Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet can do, and I want to do that level of work so badly. But I don’t believe I’m as gifted as them. So the only thing I can control is how hard I work at it — how much do I commit to it? How far will I take it?”
What can you say about Anne‘s dedication to her craft?
