It’s not the first time the Black Eyed Peas rapper’s been accused of plagiarizing a song, but it is the first time he’s actually ‘fessed up to it.

Will.i.am, who’s had a lot of successful collaborations with various artists, recently worked with Chris Brown on the song “Let’s Go,” which is one of the tracks on his upcoming album, “#THATPOWER.”

Earlier this month, however, a house producer named Arty accused the rapper of lifting the song’s beat from his dance track, “Rebound.”

And here’s the kicker—Will.i.am confirmed it. The rapper recently spoke with KIIS FM about the scandal, admitting that he did take the beat from Arty’s song, but also saying that it was an honest mistake because he thought he (or his people, most likely) had gotten permission to use the beat in the song. He said:

“I’m a fan of Arty. I think he’s great and the world needs to know about how talented those guys are. It’s sad that it’s turned into a fiasco but hopefully it’s resolved because I’m a fan of those guys to the point where I wrote to their instrumental.”

Still, there’s no getting around the fact that it was stealing. But Will.i.am has assured fans that the issue will soon be resoved:

“We’re fixing it now.”

What can you say about Will.i.am’s confession?
