DEMI LOVATO has opened up about her dad’s recent death, assuring celebrity news:
“I’m handling it OK.”
Now, the “X Factor” judge is letting her feelings out in a series of interviews and photos on her social media feeds.
In an appearance on Good Morning America on Thursday, she admitted:
“I’m handling it OK. My father and I didn’t have the most ideal relationship but at the end of the day he’s still my dad. I grew up with him and he’s a wonderful person, but I’m handling it OK. It’s difficult, but I’m handling it OK.”
While death of a parent normally leaves questions, the former Disney child star believes it happened “for a reason.” She revealed:
“My father dealt with mental illnesses and he wasn’t able to function in society and that happens to a lot of people.”
In true Demi spirit, she has launched the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program—to help fund treatments at Cast Recovery for the needy—all in honor of her late father.
Other than the new program, Demi has been able to cope better because of her loyal fans. She explains:
“It’s been a really rough week, but I’ve had incredible support from them and they can help me get through anything.”
A day after Patrick‘s passing, Demi shared an old photo of herself with her dad in a car and captioned it:
“RIP Daddy…I love you. Love, your little partner.”
Hang in there, Demi. We’re all here for you!
