Sadly, a lot of former child stars have had their lives ruined by fame. Sometimes, it’s because all the attention and adulation suddenly goes away once they are no longer relevant, like in the case of AMANDA BYNES… or because the lack of parental discipline led them to a life of drugs and alcohol, like LINDSAY LOHAN.

But believe it or not, there are some child stars who DIDN’T go crazy.

Hilary Duff

Before the Disney Channel had Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, or Miley Cyrus, they had Hilary Duff. The actress has been living a quiet life since the heyday of her teenage career, but still appears in a few movies or makes guest appearances on TV shows every once in a while.

Despite over a decade in the business, Hilary has steered clear of the controversial antics that usually plague child stars (particularly Disney girls) like leaked racy photos or rumors of drug use. Instead, she kept working as an actress after “Lizzie McGuire,” launched a brief but mildly successful music career, and got married in her early 20s to hockey player Mike Comrie. The couple welcomed their first baby last year.

Melissa Joan Hart

Melissa Joan Hart has not had any memorable roles since Clarissa Darling in “Clarissa Explains It All” and Sabrina Spellman in “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”… but that didn’t thrust her into a downward spiral like it would most child stars. Despite the lack of good roles, she continued working as an actress, and even added director and businesswoman (she opened a candy shop in 2009 called SweetHarts) to her resumé.

As for her personal life, Melissa recently gave birth to her third child and will celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary with husband Mark Wilkerson this month.

Seth Green

Green began his acting career in the ’80, appearing in films like “The Hotel New Hampshire,” “Radio Days,” and “My Stepmother is an Alien.” In his early 20s, he appeared in the TV series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” as Daniel “Oz” Osbourne and as Scott Evil in all three  ”Austin Powers” films.

Now almost 40 years old, the actor is still working, and can proudly claim that he successfully went through puberty and transitioned into adulthood without so much as a misdemeanor arrest to his name.

Elijah Wood

Though he didn’t become a household name until he was in his late teens (when he got cast as Frodo Baggins in “The Lord of the Rings”), Elijah has been working as a model and actor since he was 7 years old, first appearing in ”Back to the Future Part II” and “Avalon.” Since then, Elijah has been in a number of films—including “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Sin City,” and “Green Street Hooligans”—and explored other pursuits, such as running his own record label and working as a part-time DJ, under the name DJ Frodo.

He was also recently honord for his years of charity work with Keep A Child Alive, Bid 2 Beat AIDS, The Art of Elysium, and more.

Christina Ricci

Child actresses often loose their looks as they get older, but not Christina. At 33 years old, she still looks like she could be in her late teens… but of course that’s what happens when you don’t party every night, drink gallons of alcohol daily, and take all kinds of drugs.

In addition to keeping her looks intact, Christina has also managed to maintain a steady acting career. She recently starred alongside Robert Pattinson in “Bel Ami” (in which they share some seriously graphic sex scenes) and lent her voice to “The Smurfs 2.”

She recently got engaged to dolly grip James Heerdegen, whom she met on the set of her now-defunct TV series, “Pan Am.”

When “Mmmbop” was first released in 1997, the immense success of the catchy pop hit made the Hanson brothers a worldwide sensation. But their grounded upbringing kept them from going down the dreaded rockstar route, and now, more than 10 years later, Taylor, Zac and Isaac are all happily married (each with their own growing brood of children) and are still making music.

Last month, they released their ninth studio album, “Anthem.”
