Lots of stars lined up to be a part of this song. The list includes via MTV:

Instead of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper and the late Michael Jackson (whose previously recorded voice, however, will be heard on the tune), the 2010 version will be headlined by Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Wyclef Jean, Josh Groban and Will.I.Am. It features a newly penned hip-hop break written by the Black Eyed Peas leader that makes reference to the January 12 earthquake in Haiti, the victims of which will benefit from the song’s proceeds.

Among the rap artists making the cut for “We Are the World — 25 for Haiti” are T-Pain, Kanye West, Bizzy Bone, Kid Cudi, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Mann, Nipsey Hussle, Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz.

And though rumored participants such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake were not in attendance, the sessions did feature a number of current stars such as Miley Cyrus, Keri Hilson and Best New Artist Grammy winner Zac Brown.

There were the requisite classic artists who pitched in, including Barbra Streisand; Carlos Santana; Natalie Cole; BeBe Winans; the members of Heart; Freda Payne; Harry Connick Jr.; Earth, Wind & Fire; the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson and Al Jardine; Tony Bennett; “Slumdog Millionaire” film score composer A.R. Rahman; “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson; Patti Austin; Celine Dion and Gladys Knight. A few actors were in the studio (Jeff Bridges and Vince Vaughn), as well as the offspring of co-producers Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones, Nicole Richie and “Parks and Recreation” star Rashida Jones, and the members of 3T (the sons of Tito Jackson), Taj, Taryll and TJ Jackson.

Joel and Benji Madden were on hand, as were Akon, Brandy, Melanie Fiona, Mya, Musiq Soulchild, Katharine McPhee, Trey Songz, Faith Evans, “Heroes” actor Jimmy Jean-Louis (“the Haitian”) and former Michael Jackson guitarist Orianthi.

Also pitching in according to a press statement from organizers were the members of Sugarland, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Mraz, India.Arie, Mary Mary, Tyrese Gibson, Raphael Saadiq, Pink, Jordin Sparks, Rob Thomas, Usher, the Fray’s Isaac Slade, child prodigy pianist Ethan Bortnick, Enrique Iglesias, Robin Thicke, Jamie Foxx, Maroon 5′s Adam Levine, the Jonas Brothers, Nicole Scherzinger and Julianne Hough.

Co-producer Richie said that Janet Jackson would be laying down her version of Michael Jackson’s part on Tuesday, and he hinted that some other artists might also be added over the next few days.

The bare boob was the piece of naked flesh that changed live TV performances. Janet went underground while everyone else discussed “her” faults. According to Digital Spy:

Timberlake said at the time that he had no idea that Jackson was topless and distanced himself from the furore.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 28-year-old said that he regrets the way that he handled the situation. “I wish I had supported Janet more. I am not sorry I apologised, but I wish I had been there more for Janet,” he said.

Well that’s nice of him, almost six years late. Janet did a nice job handling it, but it would have been nice for Justin to shoulder some blame.

Sean Combs was also singaled out as being an atrocious diva. He demaned that publicist Susan Blond grant him a front-row seat at a Versace fashion. He said if the PR team didn’t pony up and get him up front he’d fire them:

“He said if we didn’t get him in, we would be fired. We called, but it was the middle of this East Coast-West Coast rap war when everyone was being shot. They didn’t want [any rappers there] and we were fired the next day.”

Now this, of course, doesn’t shock us. Also disclosed in the book was Janet Jackson‘s demand that she be in the gossip pages. Janet was very concerned with keeping her “name hot” the book says.

Rumor has it that Jackson, 42 asked the 36-year-old record producer, Jermaine to move out of her Los Angeles home after months of blaming him for the failure of her recent Rock Witchu Tour and poor sales for her recent effort, Discipline.

When the tour went sour, Janet felt that Jermaine “deserved a lot of the blame,” says the snitch, who adds, “Janet was so disappointed in how Jermaine managed her tour that she gave him his walking papers. She’s furious that Jermaine was able to work magic for Mariah Carey, but not her. She feels that he let her down.”

“She decided to cut her losses and end their relationship.”

Come on, Janet. That’s Mariah. She’s still somewhat hot, isn’t she? Blame it on your other half, so typical! I do that too. Duh! Anyway, they are a very boring couple - Why? Because they have been so stable for so long. Hey, I am being stupid here. Boring is good, sometimes, being bored is a good thing. Is not whether the guy is tall enough.. Oops! Or the girl is natural enough. Is about being together. Of course, that song doesn’t get played too often in La La Land.

I am being philosophical – that’s a word for it..lame.. Do you think they will get back together?

Before her concert tour, Janet had been vocal about wanting to get married and have kids.  Welllll, she’s turned the big 4-2 now, don’t ya think this is it?  And feeling sick and having vertigo make sense in a pregnancy too.

This is what the Daily News says of Jermaine’s recent comment:

Dupri told Hollyscoop that Jackson was doing fine post-illness, and also dodged questions about a prospective visit from the stork. “No, Ya’ll stop saying that, when she gets pregnant everyone will know.”

That sounds like a non-denial if I ever heard one.  How many stars use that line?

If she was pregnant, we’ll probably be seeing evidence shortly.  You can’t hide it forever!

Rihanna, the Umbrella singer is terrified she will fall victim to the type of wardrobe malfunction that famously afflicted Janet Jackson according to the Sun.

Rihanna says: “That’s the worst thing!”

“You have to go for fittings to make sure the stuff is pretty secure!”

And of the skimpy dominatrix outfit Rihanna says: “In terms of dress, that’s just the way I’m feeling at that particular moment. I’m just dressing how I feel and being more comfortable in my skin. I love dressing up. I always did, even before all this.”

Rihanna might not feel the same way about it if one of those leather shirts pops open at the wrong moment. That would be a big oops, wouldn’t it?

  Prince’s odd guiter created some silhouttes that offended a few.

It sure is an odd looking thing.. but I don’t think it was intended to create anything phallic. What do you think? Is definitely not like the Oops your nipple is showing! Surprise! Surprise! Wardrobe malfunction of Janet Jackson. Is it?

As for the performers. No boobies this time so nobody gets offended but don’t mark my words yet! Prince is going to be the Super Bowl halftime performer! It will surely be colorful even without boobies!  Then again perhaps we will get another surprise like the Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake dual.

Billy Joel will be singing the National Anthem. This will be Billy’s second time performing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.

Let’s hope we don’t get any angry parents complaining this year!
