Penelope seems to be well grounded, even after being in Hollywood for so long. This is what she told China Daily about her prestigious win in the supporting actress category:
Oscar 2009 winners: Slumdog Millionaire won the Best Picture Award and the film also took home the following awards: Best Director for Danny Boyle, Cinematography, Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song and Sound Mixing. Kate Winslet finally won her first Oscar after six nods in 13 years for her role in The Reader.

Sean Penn surprisingly beat Mickey Rourke and took home the Lead Actor Award for his portrayal of Harvey Milk in Milk. Although Rourke didn’t end up getting his all-time get laid pass winning, we have to say that Rourke has made a dramatic almost miraculous comeback.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ditched the Oscar Nominees luncheon on Tuesday. They were too busy promoting movies or looking at orphanages or something. No, seriously, there was a lunch and most of the big names attended, with the exception of Brad and Angie.

The 2009 Oscar nominations have arrived! There were some surprises in who was nominated and who was left out of the prestigious awards this year. Some were especially surprising because they actually won at other award shows thus far this year!

Brad Pitt’s movie Benjamin Button has 13 nominations total, including Best Actor for Brad and Best Director for David Finchner. Slumdog Millionaire also received 10 nominations, a surprise for a movie that garnered no buzz until the Golden Globes two weeks ago.
