A huge earthquake of 8.9 magnitude hit northeastern Japan Friday local time which set off a tsunami. Japan broadcaster NHK Public aired the tsunami video showing cars, houses and buildings being swept away by water. The waves are said to be as high as 20 feet!
A tsunami warning has been issued for Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia and Hawaii.
The World’s richest man is Carlos Slim Helu according to Forbes. Carlos Slim, the Mexican telecommunication mogul is worth about $53.5 billion!

This is the first time that someone from a developing nation tops Forbes’ list of millionaires. Mexican telecommunication tycoon Carlos Slim, 70 beat out Bill Gates, the Microsoft man and Warren Buffett, the stock wizard on the list.

California State Senator Roy Ashburn confirmed that he’s gay to a radio talk-show on Monday. Coincidentally,Senator Ashborn who’s a Republican picked the same day to come out of the closet as Sean Hayes who played a gay man on the hit sitcom “Will and Grace”.

Ashburn said on the Inga Barks Show, “I am gay. Those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long. But I am gay.”
Sidney Crosby saved the day for the Canadians by winning men’s hockey against the US in the Winter Olympics yesterday during a nerve wrecking overtime on Sunday. This puts Canada’s total gold medals to 14 which is an all-time record in Olympic history. Thank you Crosby.

It was an incredible game and what made it more incredible is that it had to be Crosby who saved the day.
The 2010 Winter Olympics came to an official close during a closing ceremony held on Sunday just hours after Canada, the host country defeated the United States in the men’s hockey during overtime!

The ceremony was held at Canada Place where 60,000 people attended. The good-spirited crowd was entertained by A-list Canadian artists including Nickelback, Eva Avila, Alanis Morissette, and Neil Young.
The Canada vs US Olympic Hockey game will take place at 1:30 PST today! The two North American teams have played each other a total of 15 times at the Olympics. The Canadians have won 10 of those games and tied three. Very impressive, hockey is Canada’s national pride!
