Alicia wore a black curve-hugging full-length gown by Azzedine Alaia to this year’s Billboard Music Awards—which perfectly contrasted Miley Cyrus‘ revealing white tuxedo jacket.

The 31-year-old mother and R&B crooner, who presented the Billboard Icon Award to Stevie Wonder, looked gorgeous and statuesque in her silhouette dress that flared below the knees, which she paired with Brian Atwood heels and accessorized with Repossi earrings and a Jennifer Fisher hand piece.

Completing Alicia‘s look were an intricate braided updo, soft bronze shadows and candy pink lips.

She attended Professional Performing Arts School, where she graduated at only 16 as valedictorian. She later attended Columbia University before dropping out for her destined golden music career.

Keys released her debut album with J Records. Her debut album, Songs in A Minor, was a huge success, selling over 12 million copies all over the world. She became the best-selling new artist and best-selling R&B artist of 2001. The album won Alicia Keys five Grammy Awards in 2002, among them Best New Artist and Song of the Year for Fallin’.
Her second studio album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, was released in 2003, and was another success worldwide, selling eight million copies. The album earned her four more Grammy Awards in 2005. Later that year, she released her first live album, Unplugged, which debuted at number one in the United States. She became the first female to have an MTV Unplugged album to debut at number one, and the highest since Nirvana in 1994.

The prolific artist came out with another incredible hit song, No One, in 2008, in which she also played mesmerizing piano with her poignant singing. Her rendition rivaled that of Jordan Sparks, who also was successful with the original. Keys has a vocal range of a contralto, that spans an exceptional three octaves, with a unique tone. She is called the “Princess of Soul”, and certainly makes a beautiful princess. All her music showcases her skill as an accomplished pianist, as well.

She made the announcement via Twitter, which kind of surprised everyone. How did she keep her due date such a secret? From Celebrity Cafe:

Alicia Keys gave birth to her first child, Egypt Daoud Dean, on Thursday, October 14 in New York City. Three days later, she told the world how blissful she is about being a new mom. She tweeted, “There is no word to properly describe LOVE, to describe BLISS, to a express a FEELING like this!!!” she added, “Thank U 4 your love, support and prayers!”

Egypt Daoud? What kind of a name is that? I wonder how soon Alicia will be up and making a lullaby album for baby Egypt? Isn’t that what all singing mothers do – head to the recording studio and make music?

Egypt! Ha how on earth did they come up with a name so original? Give it to our celebrity pals for having the most unique names for their kids namely Apple, Orange, Lemon. I made up the Orange and Lemon but don’t be too shocked if there were some oranges and lemons at least middle names. Egypt.. did they have a great romantic memory of Egypt? Or Alicia could have conceived there. What do you say?

Keys and Beatz got hitched earlier this year shortly after Alicia publicly announced her pregnancy. Gee whiz, it’s been that long already? Time flies, I must be getting old. Now today it’s Friday, I say we all loosen up and have some fun.

Alicia is several months pregnant with their child. Supposedly, Alicia and Swizz were entangled in an affair when he left his current squeeze for Alicia. Whatever – they are hitched now!

There was no yacht or over-the-top festivities – just family and close friends as Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz tied the knot in a private ceremony Saturday in a private home on the Mediterranean Sea.

The couple, who are also expecting their first child together, have been together since fall 2008. They announced their engagement and baby news in May.

Congratulations to the happy couple. How did this wedding fly under the radar? Was it because Chelsea Clinton’s took so much of the spotlight that others were overlooked?

We did report that Alicia might be pregnant a couple weeks ago but now it’s official.

A pal tells Us magazine, “They are very happy.” This will be Alicia’s first child; Beatz, 31, is father to two sons Kaseem Jr. and Prince, both from previous relationships.

“[Alicia] is with the man who has inspired so much of her music and her album [The Element of Freedom],” another friend told Us of Beatz back in January.

Keys, 29 recently talked motherhood, “I absolutely am very interested in starting a family. It is one of the most beautiful experiences to have in this life and I am looking forward to it when it is my time.”

Congratulations! Alicia, now you don’t have to Sleep with a Broken Heart. Sleeping with a Broken Heart is one of my favorite songs by Alicia Keys. I love Alicia! Anyone else?

Alicia has remained mum on the topic, but what started this rumor in the first place? She doesn’t look fat. From Bossip:

Alicia Keys was performing in the Netherlands on the 8th and some new pictures were released of her performance showing a protruding tummy. We guess that she couldn’t hide it anymore and that is why the scoop came out last Friday that she was carrying a Gut Full Of Swizz.

Ewww. But OK, I guess I can see their point. If Alicia got pregnant, then that’s why the soon to be ex wife of Beatz is a bit mad and called them out as being cheaters in public. Would you ever do that to someone you thought was cheating on you?

Hopefully security will keep Lil’ Mama from crashing their performance like she did at the MTV Awards. According to People Magazine:

New York natives Jay-Z and Alicia Keys will perform their hit single “Empire State of Mind” before game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium in New York. Following their duet, Keys will perform the National Anthem.

“As a die-hard Yankee fan, I’m honored to perform a song that celebrates the greatness of New York in one of our city’s most important landmarks, Yankee Stadium,” Jay-Z said in a statement Monday.

I think Jay Z and Alicia was a great choice for openers. What will Philadelphia do to top New York when they host the games? Who is a good Philadelphia native? Anyone?

On dealing with the pressures of fame:
I’m not the chick that breaks down, I’m not the one who loses it and wilds out, that’s not my thing.”

On finding herself on top of an Egyptian tomb:
I needed to get out of town and clear my head, I went to Egypt. It was such a miraculous experience for me. I crawled to the top of the pyramid and I just sang at the top of my lungs right there. People walking in acted like I was crazy; I didn’t care. When I came home, I wanted to abandon all the tat stuff about me feeling too vulnerable to collaborate with people. Forget that.

On her idea of a good date:
I like to do things just because the thought came in your mind. I like to maybe go to the planetarium, crazy late at night.
