“If anyone knows public scrutiny, it’s me,” Beard said in a text message. “When I posed for Playboy, so many officials looked down on me. Michael knows he isn’t a bad person. He made a mistake. People need to get over it. I want to cheer him on in London.”

As reports by Post Chronicle:USA Swimming released the following statement:

USA Swimming has reprimanded Michael Phelps under its Code of Conduct by withdrawing financial support and the eligibility to compete for a period of three months effective today, Feb. 5, 2009.

This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero. Phelps has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and “has committed to earn back our trust.”

Seriously, damage is done, Phelps’ regretful and give the guy a break! We all make mistakes, yes, he was plain stupid knowing what he represents but aren’t we all humans? He’s only 23! I seriously hope he doesn’t forfeit the 2012 Olympics!

Phelps has made history of winning the most gold metals in one single Olympic game which is translating into tons of endorsement money to come! So we must think of the obvious – the women are going to be after him like vultures.  He is looking hotter than Brad Pitt, Chace Crawford and whoever else… He’s hot! 

So who’s the lucky gal?  Phelps tells Extra, “No, I’m not dating Amanda Beard. I’ll say that. I think she has a boyfriend.”

“Part of my life is kept to myself. I’m able to relax and be with my friends. Those pretty much are the only people who really know the answer to that question.”
