These beloved furry puppets haven’t been seen on the big screen since Disney produced their last film in 1996, “Muppet Treasure Island.” And despite their 12-year hiatus from the public eye, it seems the three-foot tall characters are storming the box office and aiming to knock “Breaking Dawn Part 1″ off the map…

Or maybe they’re just riding on the coattails of “Twilight” fame, who knows.

But don’t you agree Kermit the Frog looks dashing in a dark turtleneck and tweed overcoat? And doesn’t Miss Piggy (who made her first public appearance in more than a decade kissing LeAnn Rimes, no less) appear more Rosalie Hale than Bella?

The Muppets will be starring in the Disney movie of the same name, with co-stars Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Jason Segel, and will feature the whole cast of furry characters created by famous puppeteer Jim Henson in 1956, that were launched into fame with the success of “The Muppet Show” on British television in 1974.

Oh, and we musn’t forget the Muppet spoofing Jacob Black. Unlike Jacob, Rowlf is a very talented pianist, and has been pounding those ivory keys with ears swinging since 1963:

So prepare yourselves for “The Muppets‘” dominion in theaters on November 23…

Amy hit the red carpet in a beautiful nude Gucci gown with silver and gold beadwork, which featured a modest train and off-shoulder straps.

The beautiful redhead completed the look with smokey eye makeup, glossy lips, and soft, romantic curls.

Amy looks beautiful, but we wish she’d worn some bling! A sparkly necklace would have worked wonders for her getup.

Adams eventually landed the role of Brenda Strong in 2002, in Catch Me If You Can. But her big break was in the 2005, an independent film Junebug, playing Ashley Johnsten, for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

This was followed by Leap Year in 2010.

She told reporters:

“I guess I’m getting to the point in my life where I’m suspicious of teenagers and I’m intimidated a little bit. She’s not a teenager but she’s close enough and I was very intimidated.”

The two just finished a 4-day filming stretch in New Orleans and, thankfully, Amy Adams had nothing but nice things to say about her co-star, saying she was “incredibly gracious and lovely.”

Amy and her boyfriend of SIX YEARS – Darren Legallo – proposed recently with a bauble from a French ring designer.  Nice!  The pair met while attending acting school back in 2001 and began dating shortly after.   They do not have a wedding date set yet.

Amy was recently in Enchanted, with Patrick Dempsey as co-star.  Lucky girl!  Who wouldn’t want to co-star in anything with hotness Patrick?  Congratulations!!  I mean on the engagement, not the co-star thing.
