Bale has been playing the iconic superhero since 2005, but the actor has announced that, after three Batman films, he will finally be shelving the cape and the bat-eared mask. He tells the Philippine Daily Inquirer:

“I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that cowl [Batman hood] off,” he said. “I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it’s all done. Everything’s finished. It’s me and Chris [director Chris Nolan] – that will be the end of that Batman era.”

Nonetheless, Christian admitted that he really enjoyed playing Bruce Wayne/Batman. He shares:

“[It] was enjoyable… We always maintained from the beginning that if you wanted to break it down, there are three personas – Batman is sincere, the private Bruce Wayne is sincere. The public version of Bruce Wayne, the playboy, is a completely fabricated performance.”

“The Dark Knight Rises,” which will be Christian’s last hurrah as Batman, will hit theaters on July 20, 2012.

The film also stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy.

“In truth, you know what this is? This is unemployment, this is all this is,” Christian told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush backstage after he picked up his Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role Award for “The Fighter.”

“I haven’t worked since ‘The Fighter,’ and it’s nice to just not bother cutting your hair. When you’re [not] in a job that everything always has to be, you know, worked out for a character, I just sort of let it all hang out, but it’s unemployment, that’s all it is.”

Even if you like his long do chances are, it ain’t going to stick.  As Christian heads to China for his new movie ” The 13 Women of Nanjing” in a couple weeks’ time. After that he’ll be starring in “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Christian Bale scored the Best Supporting Actor for his role as troubled ex-boxer Dickie Eklund in ‘The Fighter.’

‘The Social Network,’ which won Best Original Score and Best Screenplay, and ‘Toy Story 3,’ which took home the trophy for Best Animated Feature Film.

‘Burlesque‘ won the Best Original Song award for ‘You Haven’t Heard the Last of Me.’

In the TV category, the biggest winner so far has been HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ which earned two of the most prestigious awards of the night: Best Television Series – Drama and Best Actor in a Television Series for star Steve Buscemi.

This year’s ceremony is being hosted by comedian Ricky Gervais. I think his jokes could be a bit cruel at times. Anyone watching it. What do you think?

Christian has taken off weight and put it on for other roles. Losing and gaining weight quickly is hard on the body and Mark has taken notice. From the Aurora Sentinel:

Friends of actor Christian Bale – such as his current co-star Mark Wahlberg – are worried that Bale’s infamous penchant for losing and gaining tremendous amounts of weight in order to conform to his idea of what a character should look like, is downright dangerous.

Bale is on another losing streak, having dropped about 30 pounds to play a drug addict in “The Fighter.” He’s eating nothing but melons, some other fruits and water. He looks like death. You remember that Bale lost even more, becoming positively corpse-like for his role as the insomniac in “The Machinist.” Then he bulks up again – hours straining in the gym – for one of the Batman movies. Then down again.

It is rumored that Bale is only drinking water and eating fruit. Plus, he’s working out to burn extra calories to keep the weight off. Scary. How soon is this movie done filming so Christian can get a steak?

 The Welsh actor, who is notorious for transforming his body for his various film roles, looked weak and sallow, walking around set today, with heavy dark bags under his eyes. Has Bale taken this role too far?  The price of being an actor. It’s rosy but very demanding. We hope his health won’t be affected.

Though Bale is playing boxer-turned trainer-turned-drug addict Dickie Eklund in the film, his hollowed features seem extreme for a man who bulked up to play the muscly caped crusader in last year’s Batman. Bale is a notorious method actor and lost a staggering 63 pounds for the film The Machinist only to regain it all back and then some for the first Batman installment.

Hope his metabolism and ultimately his health isn’t being adversely affected by the excessive weight fluctuation.

The publication also gave little monikers to all the winners. Chris Brown is “Ike Tyson.” Bernie Madoff is “Scumbag Millionaire” Alex Rodriguez is A-Roid (real original) and Christian Bale is Brit Fume. Surprisngly, starting off the list is stinky vampire actor Robert Pattinson aka Hackula.

It really is a new era, however. Coming in at number 91 is former president George W. Bush or Brain Dead Prez. Had this been last year, that number one spot would have been Dubyas to lose.

One of the questions Kevin and Bean asked: How in the world did you have so much energy for a full 4 minutes of f-word filled rants? Most normal people would’ve pooped out at 30 seconds. Christian said he was shooting a scene where his sister, Sarah Connor, goes completely crazy. He was in the midst of trying to inject some of that “in the blood” craziness into his own character, John Connor.

WOW. Maybe it really was method acting. Well, Christian Bale will always have a soft spot in my heart for his portrayal of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. One of the most underrated performances ever.

This incident took place just days before Christian was questioned by London police about an alleged fracas with his family around the time that The Dark Knight was released. Nikki Finke talked to a source close to Bale who told him that “Christian and the DP [director of Photography] are all good now. It happened. It was one isolated event. He regrets that he lost his temper.”

 TMZ claims that police will not charge Bale in the incident involving his mother and sister.  Another source claims he won’t be charged as long as he pleads guilty in his bail hearing.  He pleads guilty to the charge and gets off with a warning.  OK…I think. 

So, the good news is he won’t have a trial or drama – more drama anyway – involving his family in the courts.  It seems.  He can go back to acting and being a bad guy in the movies, just like we like him.

It seems that the tiff started over a decade ago, when Bale’s mom and dad got divorced.  He moved with his dad to LA to further his acting career in 1992.  His mom has had her nose out of joint ever since.  They have had a strained relationship, but she was invited to the premier anyway. 

Then Christian and his wife were in a hotel room with his mom and sister and his mom insulted his wife.  The events directly after that are cloudy – he says a brush by she says a push – and he left the room. 

And finally the real rea$on come$ out.   Hi$ mom and $i$ter may be looking for a way to ca$h in on hi$ fame.  They may have found a way to do it with thi$ $tory.

It seems in London you can press assault charges for verbal confrontations.  There is no confirmation of a verbal assault, but some sources claim Bale lashed at his mother verbally with his sister present.  Bale denies that charges. 

Another source says it was physical.  Bale had brushed by his mother and she claims it was a shove.  All sound like a misunderstanding, until the story about Terminator 4 was leaked this morning.  It seems Bale had a blowup on set last week and a FEW hundred people heard him lash out at the cinematography who screwed up a shot.  Via TMZ:

“We’re told Bale went ballistic, screaming “I will kick your ass” along with other choice remarks.”

He is under a tremendous amount of pressure right now.  Is the outburst justified or blown out of proportion because of the film hype right?  I hope he settles down.  Look what happened to Val Kilmer’s career oce his temper was known.

Christian’s mom and sister filed an assault charge yesterday evening according to Yahoo! News.  They claim they were assaulted in a hotel room before the London premier of Dark Knight.  Police didn’t take Bale in since they didn’t want to interrupt with the movie proceedings.  This morning in London he voluntarily showed up in the station to resolve the case and was arrested.  He is still being held and his family and the police aren’t answering questions yet.  Stay tuned for updates…

He has that look that he just might be crazy enough to do something…off the wall.

Bale although best known for his role for playing Batman, he first caught the public eye when he was cast in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun at the age of 13, playing an English boy who becomes separated from his parents and subsequently finds himself lost in a Japanese internment camp during World War II.

On January 29, 2000, Christian married Sandra “Sibi” Blazic (born 1970), a one-time model, make-up artist, and personal assistant to Winona Ryder. He has a daughter with Blazic named Emmeline.

The movie was producted at a budget of an estimated $180 million with partner Legendary Pictures.

I was at the downtown Vancouver Cinema last night. If you know Vancouver, it’s the Scotia Bank Theater used to be called Paramount. Of course getting tickets to “The Dark Knight” was out of the question so we ended up watching “Hancock” which I thought was just another great Will Smith, Charlize Theron film! Loved it.

Hancock was all sold out but you should have seen the line up for The Dark Knight. I wonder if it has much to do with Heath Ledger being the Joker. My guess is a lot of people would go to see the Batman sequel just because of him.

Christian Bale plays Batman, but Heath Ledger had his last starring role playing the Joker.  Heath’s father and sister arrived in New York for the premier, but Michelle Williams – the mother of his child – was not planning to attend.  Too hard to watch the last role of your loved one, which is said to be an Oscar worthy performance?

Probably.  How tragic that he died and won’t see how good the reviews are for his last role, which is said to have driven him to the brink of insanity.  Sad.  Will you be seeing the movie this weekend?
