Conan O’Brien slammed Jay Leno once again. While chatting with 60 minutes, O’Brien said had he been in Leno‘s shoes earlier this year, he would never have agreed to snatch away the time slot, thus forcing O’Brien out of the network.

Conan O’Brien said goodbye last night for his last episode of The Tonight Show. Due to subpar ratings, NBC decided to give Jay Leno the 11:30 spot and move O’Brien back to a later time. This ruffled O’Brien‘s red locks so furiously that he promptly quit.

NBC gave him a hefty payout (to the tune of $32 million) and the OK to host another show at another network in 8 months. Parting is such sweet sorrow, and for O’Brien‘s last episode he had a host of jokes to ease out of the transition. Here’s a handy round-up:

Conan O’Brien is rich and soon to be on vacation. Conan and NBC struck a $45 million dollar settlement in order to get Conan to leave the 11:30 time spot for Jay Leno. Conan has quite a few provisions he has to agree with in the meantime.

Conan has been working on a deal for at least a week now. He gets a huge chunk of money, his staff and then they get vacations. Nice. But he can’t talk about NBC and the whole mess! From the Wall Street Journal:
When Conan O’Brien moves from NBC, it’s likely he’s going to lose some of his beloved characeters which are technically the network’s property. O’Brien has cultivated a few running themes within his sketches that are likely to have a limited shelf life when he jumps networks.

However, as TMZ.com reports, O’Brien may have to make some concession in order to keep the animals.
Conan O’Brien could leave NBC was early as next week. After being told that his Late Show was to be pushed back to a later slot in order to make up for lost ratings, O’Brien reacted with a kind of spiteful rage that clearly told the network that he wasn’t going to be pushed around.
