So there was that incident involving Cher‘s death, which Kim Kardashian helped spread like wildfire…and then Reba McEntire was rumored to have fallen hundreds of feet to her death while filming in the frigid mountains of Austria. And way before that, Jon Bon Jovi met his untimely “demise.” This time, what is now widely known as the Twitterer Murderer has killed off Eddie Murphy…

So we guess the the social media meme for today should read:

“Twitter kills more people than (insert your favorite serial killer here).”

Because folks, Eddie Murphy remains alive and well, despite not having made a film of great note since “Dreamgirls” in 2006. Which is no reason to e-murder him off at all.

So what’s with this killing off of celebrities via Twitter? Are the perpetrators of the hoax hoping the rumors come true and rid them of celebrities they don’t find entertaining at the moment?

Earlier in last month, Academy Awards producer Brett Ratner had bandied Eddie‘s name about as a possible stand-alone host…no Anne Hathaway counterpart to save the show and his ass. And as Monday rolled around the corner, he finally made it official. Eddie, whose only experience with the Oscars is walking out on the show after he lost the Best Supporting Actor award to Alan Arkin in 2007, is set to blind TV audiences around the world with his signature goofy ear-to-ear grin and his Rastus impersonation at the 84th Oscars next year…

Does Ratner owe Murphy for something in the past? Because while the comedian has been getting steady work in Tinseltown, his star kind of faded away since his “Beverly Hills Cop” days in the 90′s, and he’s now best known as Donkey’s voice in “Shrek.”

Sources say he’s also a notoriously cantankerous celebrity to work with.

Still, Eddie Murphy‘s also known for being one of the most gifted improvisational stand-up comedians ever seen in the last 30 years. And who knows, he may just be able to carry this hosting job with enough aplomb to make him relevant in Hollywood again.

The affair between Mel and Eddie was quick and brief after Eddie’s split from his wife Nicole, whom he has 5 children with.  But it lasted log enough to create the child!  Says a spy to OK! Magazine:

“To see the kid, he’d have to see the mother,” a friend of the Norbit actor, 47 (who has five other children by his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell, and two from a previous relationship), tells OK!. “Maybe when she’s older, Eddie will see Angel, but not now.”

Is this some kind of weird triangle or what?  Do you think Mel wanted to get pregnant?  She sure married the Belafonte dude quickly after she had an infant.

The OK Magazine article goes on to say:

“Mel’s a crazy woman. Eddie wants to stay far away from her.”

I guess that sums it up…???

Heath Ledger was awesome as the Joker.  Aaron Eckhart was good as Two Face.  But I can’t see Eddie with a string of flops under his belt being the Riddler. Can you?  The Sun Online reports:

The Beverly Hills Cop star, 47, has been signed up by British director Christopher Nolan to reprise the role played by Jim Carrey in 1995’s Batman Forever.

And also:

Execs have also signed up rising Transformers star Shia LaBeouf, 22, to play Robin.  Brit Rachel Weisz is said to be up for the Catwoman role.

Rachel Weisz would be a good choice.  What happened to Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin?  Johnny Depp?  I would love to see those names in the movie.  You?

Murphy’s rep issued the following statement to TMZ: “After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further.
While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends.”

It’s probably Tracey Edmonds’ decision, don’t you think? She has this kind and gorgeous face how could she be with someone like him? Murphy, the father of Melanie Brown’s (Scary Spice’s) baby girl, Angel Iris. He has no interest in ever meeting his daughter.  What a di*k.

Hey, I don’t give two sh*t about whether he had any say to the pregnancy but the baby is here and it’s yours – what jerk would be this cold blooded.

Mel B received the DNA report yesterday afternoon which was done on the 11th of June and yes, Mel was right, Eddie is the dad. Hey dude, should have trusted the woman!  Murphy has been dating Tracey Edmonds, a film producer since November 2006. He apparently has never seen his own daughter. Let’s hope he does the right thing ha?
