Why, the king of rock ‘n roll, of course!

The Australian hunk, who began his career as a comedian, probably never thought he’d see the day he’d play Elvis. That’s right. Elvis Presley himself. Do you think there may be a likeness in there somewhere?

Entertainment news today just learned that guy who used to play “Hulk”, Henry VIII of England in “The Other Boleyn Girl” and a teleporter in “The Time Traveler’s Wife” will now start learning how to shimmy his pelvis and make like Elvis.

Even more interesting, the movie will mark the directorial debut of Cary Elwes, more famously known for playing Wesley to Robin Wright‘s Buttercup in “The Princess Bride”.

But don’t expect Elvis the Pelvis to start dancing to the jailhouse rock, or even loving you tender, because the film is set to center on a 1970 White House visit The King paid then President Richard Nixon to request he be appointed as a “Federal Agent-at-Large” in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. How ironic is that?

And since Elvis wasn’t exactly in the prime of his life in the 1970′s, expect to see a bloated Eric Bana swaggering around with a belly the size of Tennessee.

That about sizes it up…Elvis is still in the building.

(( At one minute past midnight Monday, the Elvis Presley Fan Club will continue its tradition of meeting at the gates of the late Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion for his birthday celebration. They will sing familiar gospel songs and, of course, Happy Birthday to Elvis.

The legendary singer died at Graceland on August 16, 1977.  The official Elvis Presley Birthday ceremony begins at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday on the front steps of Graceland.

His former wife, Priscilla Presley will participate in this ceremony for the first time this year.

The traditional ceremony features a birthday cake cutting and a proclamation of Elvis Presley Day by Memphis and Shelby County officials.

At 7 p.m., the NBA Memphis Grizzlies will host the Elvis Birthday Grizzlies game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
