Other than jesting that his former WWE diva was “probably thrilled” that he was arrested, George Clooney explains that he and his father Nick were arrested earlier today for being part of a protest regarding several humanitarian issues in Sudan and South Sudan in front of the Sudanese Embassy, in the short press conference held after his release from a Washington DC jail.

“The Descendants” star and his father—who were protesting along with Martin Luther King III, several congressmen, human rights group leaders, and Sudanese citizens—were arrested for “disorderly crossing of a police line,” but were released after posting $100 bail.

George said in his press conference:

“Listen, what we’ve been trying to achieve today is we’re trying to bring attention to an ongoing emergency. Our job right now is to try to bring attention to it, and one of those ways was, apparently, get arrested. You never know if you’re going to accomplish anything, all we’re trying to do is bring attention to a moment. We hope this brings attention to it.”

It’s all for a good cause, but what do you think Stacy‘s actual reaction was to George‘s updated criminal record?

And he’s actually happy about it, believe it or not.

Clooney is the second Hollywood celebrity to get arrested… in this week alone!

As previously reported, British comedian Russell Brand was arrested yesterday in New Orleans after an iPhone-tossing, window-smashing altercation with a paparazzo.

However, unlike Brand, the award-winning “The Descendants” star was actually arrested for something meaningful.

George Clooney was arrested by secret service agents in Washington, D.C. today during a Sudan crisis protest outside the Sudanese Embassy.

After speaking with a source close to the actor, TMZ reports:

“[George] feels good about the arrest because it puts the spotlight on the crisis.”

Among the others arrested at the protest were Martin Luther King III, Nick Clooney (George’s father), a bunch of congressmen, human rights group leaders, and a number of Sudanese citizens.

Stan Rosenfield, Clooney’s publicist, tells TMZ:

“They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”

Does Angie not approve of George‘s latest arm candy?

The incident occurred when George Clooney and Stacy Keibler hitched a ride on a private jet with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie from L.A. on their way to the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and it looks like Angie turned on her inner ice queen, sending chilly icicles Stacy‘s way to add to the frost already on the former wrestler’s blonde hair…

“Angelina refused to acknowledge that Stacy was even on the plane,”

a source told US Weekly.

“Angelina went out of her way to ignore her, from takeoff to landing. She would not even look Stacy‘s way. She was not having it!”

What’s with Stacy Keibler that’s gotten La Jolie‘s panties in a bunch? Was she sending a cold and crystal-clear message that Stacy wasn’t to even glance Brad‘s way, or else? But why would she? Brad Pitt and George Clooney have been pals from way back, and Angie‘s been part of that friendship since she and Brad got together more than six year ago.

Maybe Angie simply got tired of having to invest too much time and overtures of friendship towards any of George Clooney‘s girls, knowing this one might last just as long as the rest of the others.

Was this the prank George Clooney was talking about when he mentioned earlier that he was going to ruin Brad‘s career with a huge mother of a practical joke? Probably payback time for when Brad poked fun at his sexuality on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which was in turn comeuppance for George‘s pregnancy jokes about Angelina Jolie…

Still, the two recipients of People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive have got each other’s backs and have been pals going way back, so Clooney may either have been teasing Brad, or commiserating with the torn ACL the “Moneyball” actor incurred after having wiped out on a ski slope while carrying daughter, Vivienne…

So when Clooney came onstage to introduce “Moneyball,” he drew a lot of laughs from the crowd for his doppelganger cane and his pseudo limp. Too bad Brad didn’t get the globe, and George got the last laugh when he won for “Descendants” instead.

Doesn’t matter, though, right? Even if it did look like Clooney was out to ruin Brad‘s career for real.

And despite Brangelina‘s dour mugs (she didn’t win for “In The Land of Blood and Honey, either) gracing almost every Golden Globes red carpet photo, at least they seem to both be in the running for best dressed at the Awards, cane and all…

But wait…it isn’t all that bad. Apparently, George heard Stacy out on her demands and it looks like he’s shrugged his shoulders and eased off on this one. So what did Stacy have in mind when she confronted her 50-year-old boyfriend and put him off limits on some particular things? No sex on Thursdays? Leave his smelly socks out of the boudoir? Dye his silvering hair back to it’s original rich brunette? Well, not quite…

Stacy‘s put her foot down over incurable prankster George making her one of his victims.

Yup. That’s it. Reasonable enough request, eh? And we’re sure someone like the Oscar winner and People Magazine’s one-time Sexiest Man Alive, George Clooney, can be magnanimous enough to accede a rule as tame as that.

“We have a rule that he is not allowed to play pranks on me,”

Stacy tells Access Hollywood about how she put her foot down on Clooney‘s penchant for punking people close to him.

And as George hasn’t pulled a prank on anyone yet this year (last victims were “Ides of March” co-stars, Evan Rachel Wood and damp-crotched Canadian Ryan Gosling), Clooney‘s been itching at the bit and has targeted his pal and fellow Sexiest Man Alive, Brad Pitt.

“I can’t tell you what it is, but I can tell you it’s going to end his career,”

he joked.

“I actually am working on something for [Brad,] but I want to wait until, you know, for a while. Let it run for a couple of years.”

Well, forewarned is forearmed, Brad. So you had better fast-track your recovery from that torn ACL, fast. You never know when you’ll have to run…

The couple are looking to embrace 2012 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where they’ve previously vacationed just before Christmas. Looks like the place made a great impression on George and Stacy because they’re starting a new chapter in their lives at the popular tourist spot after dating for four whole months this 2011…

“I think that we will definitely be with friends and family,”

the statuesque former WWE wrestler revealed in an interview on the “Rachael Ray” show.

“We may have a party.”

Clooney, 50 and Keibler, 32, will be co-celebrating with other celebrity couples, like Cindy Crawford, Alex Rodriguez, and their respective partners.

“There will definitely be some dancing and drinking going on,”

Stacy continued about her plans with her man.

It’s still the early days, so we really don’t know how long Stacy will last as George Clooney‘s arm hanger, but given that her forerunner, Elisabetta Canalis lasted two whole years, we’re looking at a considerable stretch of time for George and Stacy‘s togetherness…assuming she doesn’t make the fatal mistake of mentioning the “M” word, of course…

Clooney and Canalis are among the 200 witnesses summoned by a Milan court to testify in the case where the former Italian premier, popularly known as Il Cavaliere (The Knight), is being tried for his “bunga bunga” sex parties where underaged prostitutes were provided for guests…

According to “The Ides of March” actor, Berlusconi‘s team approached him to testify about these “bunga bunga” parties, giving rise to speculations good ol’ George himself had attended one of them.

“I wasn’t at the bunga bunga party,”

George Clooney was quoted as saying by Time Magazine.

“I went to speak about Darfur. … It was a very interesting conversation to say the least, that became a very different kind of event than anyone ever thought.”

He said after his meeting with Berlusconi to seek aid for the war-torn region of Sudan, he was asked to stay on for the party, to which declined the invitate very politely.

“No, I gotta go.”

George said.

We’re assuming, of course, that his ex, Elisabetta Canalis was with him during the meeting, because she’s on the witness list, as well. Although why he would choose to bring her along, we can’t say for sure. Canalis isn’t exactly known for her social or political activism. Other than posing naked for PETA, of course.

Among other celebrities star news learned were on the witness list, Portuguese football player, Christiano Ronaldo‘s name was mentioned. Now that one likes to party…

Hollywood news wonders if this is the kind of woman George goes for… the kind that can beat the hell out of him, then hang off his arm in a form fitting frock and smile on the red carpet afterwards. It isn’t too much to ask for, is it?

“She’s very tall,”

Stacy and Elisabetta found themselves face to face on Monday, as both beauties attended the launch party for “The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer” at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Now despite the fact that Italian model Elisabetta came there with a date—hunky new boyfriend Mehcad Brooks of “True Blood”—she noticeably avoided Clooney’s statuesque new squeeze, who went stag to the event.

During the dinner, Clooney’s girls ate at separate tables and basically pretended like the other one didn’t exist. An eyewitness shares:

“[Stacy and Elisabetta] were always on opposite sides of the room… They were basically avoiding each other the whole night.”

Can we blame them? It is pretty awkward, especially since Stacy started dating George just weeks after he dumped Elisabetta.

But hey, she’s got a new man, and he’s a hunky beefcake of a guy who’s a lot closer to her age. The gorgeous brunette has been dating Mehcad Brooks for a while now, and judging from the fact that they’ve already made their first public appearance as a couple, they seem to be getting serious.

Did he mean the pain of his divorce from first (and only wife) Talia Balsam, or the pain of having to suffer through his countless girlfriends trying to snare him into marriage?

Neither it appears. Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor once suffered from pain so severe he thought of ending his life just to make it stop…

Apparently, the 50-year-old Oscar winner sustained a horrific spinal injury during the filming of “Syriana” in 2005, the very film that netted him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

George was bedridden for a long time, suffering from severe headaches while his spinal fluid leaked from his nose on a regular basis.

“I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches where it feels like you’re having a stroke, and for a shirt three-week period, I started to think, ‘I may have to do something drastic about this’.”

George recalls.

“I was at a point where I thought, ‘I can’t exist like this. I can’t actually live,’ “

But thankfully, Clooney‘s self-preservation instinct remained pretty strong. The same instinct that’s warned him to flee from matrimony-hungry hopefuls kicked in at that moment of seemingly unending pain and hopelessness until…

“See, I was in a place where I was trying to figure out how to survive.”

The only damage he ended up doing to himself was drinking heavily to numb the pain until corrective surgery helped him recover from his ordeal.

Let this be a lesson to all you girls: George Clooney survived Talia Balsam. He survived excruciating headaches and spinal goo dripping out his nose. He survived thoughts of suicide. So don’t go around thinking he won’t survive the loss of yourself.

Unless you can do better than all he’s been through…

According to Clooney, a rope popped his cherry when he was a young boy (“young, very young, too young,” he says)…

“I believe it was while climbing a rope when I was six or seven years old.”

Should we count this as another of the pranks he’s so fond of pulling on everybody? Like when he sprayed Ryan Gosling’s crotch with a water bottle or secretly filmed Evan Rachel Wood doing Justin Bieber?

Something tells us Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor’s being honest and upfront about this, particularly since the magazine’s entitled his interview, “Confessions Of A Dirty Mind”…fitting, yes?

“I mean, nothing came out, but all the other elements were there. I remember getting to the top of the rope, hanging off the rope, and going, ‘Oh, my God, this feels great!’”

George remembers with a fond smile.

Six or seven years old? And on a rope? We’re impressed!

What we’d like to know is why he’d prefer to hang from one than get married again. Pray tell, George…

Either Elisabetta‘s still smarting from being replaced with Stacy Kiebler barely a couple of months after being dumped, or she really used old daddy George here to get her name out in Hollywood…

This new quote by Elisabetta can be found in a new book “Questo Amore” (“This Love”), by Italian journalist Bruno Vespa. Did Elisabetta put him up to this? This Vespa guy isn’t in love with her, is he?

Elisabetta, as we all know, was shown out the door to George Clooney’s largesse after she so openly expressed her desire to get married. And rumors have it their parting wasn’t exactly as smooth as glass. So, hell hath no fury, and all that?

“He has been special for me, and very important, just as a father would be,”

the Italian model and erstwhile “Dancing With The Stars” contestant is quoted as saying in the book.

“Between us there was more of a father-daughter relationship. I was unable to clarify this up ’til now.”

This is the first we’ve heard of it…and it’s not a first-person account either. So while we’d advise you to take it with a grain of salt, we’re still speculating about about that phenomenon of bachelorhood that is George Clooney.

Clooney, of course, has vowed never to get married again. What first (and only) wife Talia Balsam did to him that was so awful between the years of 1989 to 1993, we’ll never know.

The statuesque beauty was clad in a sheer, full-length black gown, which featured a thigh-high slit that showcased her toned legs, while George looked dashing in a charcoal gray suit, white shirt, and a navy blue satin tie.

Using the former governator’s name probably gave George Clooney the ultimate kick in pseudo fame, back when he  simply used to be a mainstay in “E/R” on television. Of course, it probably spawned the prankster in his personality that he carries with him to this day.

“The funny thing is, when you stay in a hotel, no matter what alias you use, all of the people at the hotel have to use that name. So I would always go as Arnold Schwarzenegger. And then they (hotel staff) would go, ‘Right away Mr. Schwarzenegger!’”

Clooney relates.

“And it made me laugh. (But) I’ve had to change that!”

He would have had to, if he didn’t want to be raided by the Secret Service, the CIA, and a SWAT team or two. Impersonating a U.S. politician is a crime worthy of capital punishment…at least in Arnold‘s book.

Poor girl.

Elisabetta clearly isn’t having the best year. First she got dumped—and was immediately replaced—by George Clooney… and now, according to entertainment news, she’s been booted off “DWTS.”

After only two episodes.

And the worst part is, she didn’t even deserve to go. Elisabetta actually scored pretty high this time around—she and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy scored a surprising 21 out of 30 for their quickstep routine on Monday night.

Guess America just wasn’t feeling Elisabetta and Val…

After her elimination, the Italian beauty said:

“For me, it was a gift every day staying here. It was a great adventure… I want to thank everybody because they made me come here. Thanks to the public and to everybody who voted for us. Now I am really nervous, but thank you anyway. It was a great experience.”

Wood worked with consummate practical joker George in “The Ides of March” last October, and knowing this fact full well issued a challenge to the indomitable Mr. Clooney:

And brung it George did.

While Evan Rachel Wood wasn’t looking, he secretly filmed her doing Justin Bieber…that is, dancing to the “Baby” singer’s music in all-out abandon.

“He did film me when I didn’t think anybody was watching me dancing to Justin Bieber,”

the actress admitted to star news ruefully.

“And he said he was going to put it on the DVD, so I’m waiting to see. You know, you can’t take yourself seriously all the time. You have to have fun, man.”

And so will we because the last laugh‘s on us.

Who wants to bet Elisabetta Canalis takes on yet another Hollywood project, preferably one where she’s naked, when she hears this piece of news?

Hollywood gossip news spotted the pair at Fox Searchlight and Vanity Fair’s Toronto Film Festival bash, and then again at the Grey Goose Soho House party. From all sightings of them, it seems Stacy‘s perfectly at ease hobnobbing with Hollywood royals, and didn’t need to hang off George‘s arm like a life-size accessory all throughout the evening.

“They were comfortable and affectionate and seemed socially poised as a couple. The two clearly work not only as a pair, but also independently. [Stacy] really stood on her own. George was not overprotective and didn’t have to look after her.”

A source revealed.

In fact, the long-legged wrestling blonde held her own and circulated among the crowd, clearly enjoying the conversations she was having with other people.

“She was confident in her own space,”

one of the party-goers said.

“She would come over to [George] and rub his back, then separate from him again… I’ve never seen him more comfortable.”

Is this the kind of woman elusive bachelor George Clooney prefers? Someone who won’t follow him around like some puppy dog, or cling to him like Saran wrap?

Is Stacy maybe learning from all the the past mistakes of George‘s other exes? We’ll soon find out, won’t we?
