It seems John Mayer‘s found a new lease in life after having had a granuloma removed from his vocal chords  in October. He has a new Tumblr page now, and he’s waxing eloquent about his life and beliefs in a setting that allows him more than 140 characters per post…

Yup, after having quit Twitter, admitting he was a “tweet-aholic,” and leaving 3.7 million followers behind, the singer has discovered a new medium to express himself, and he’s peppered his posts with beautiful black-and-white photos of austere landscapes, wildlife and himself.

“If you want to be truly intimidating, If you want to make an impact, If you want to have strong connections with others…”

John Mayer writes in the latest entry of “One Forty Plus,”

“just be sincere.”

And from the tone of his scribblings, we’re guessing John‘s maybe tired of being portrayed in public as a womanizer. Is he ready to come with a clean slate and become a more sincere boyfriend to some lucky girl?

Or maybe not.

“Sarcasm is not an attitude, and it’s not a personality trait. It’s a style of rhetoric meant to be used occasionally to highlight a larger point. Saying you’re a sarcastic person is like saying your favorite cuisine is salt. Sarcasm is easy because you never have to take a stance. And that’s just the problem; It’s so noncommittal.”

He continues, but who he’s referring to in this post one can only guess.

“I live in a city of cool people with the absolute worst PR representatives: themselves. Be yourself, even if that means being unsure or uneasy. Let someone else put you at ease. Meet them in the middle. Be sincere.”

From the thousands of likes (“notes” in Tumblr) and reposts of his followers, we’re betting it won’t be long before John Mayer gets back all of his 3.7 million followers.

According to Janet’s reps, the singer had no choice but to cancel her 8 pm performance at the Sydney Opera House due to vocal cord issues, issuing a statement to disappointed concert-goers at 7:40 pm which read:

“It is with regret that Dainty Group announces that tonight’s Janet Jackson Number Ones: Up Close and Personal concert at the Sydney Opera House cannot proceed. Doctors have ordered Miss Jackson to undertake vocal rest for the next two days, so she can complete the third and final show of her Australian tour this Tuesday night at the Sydney Opera House.”

This incident comes on the heels of several other celebrity entertainers who are now out of commission due to throat conditions that’ve occurred within the last two months, ranging from simple hospital emergency room visits to actual surgery, star news reports.

First came John Mayer who had to have surgery to remove a granuloma from his vocal cords; followed by Adele who’s scheduled to go under the knife to remedy vocal cord hemorrhage that’s rumored to have progressed to throat cancer; then Marie Osmond was rushed to the emergency room in the middle of a Sin City performance for really bad bronchitis, and the most recent being country singer, Keith Urban who’s even now being prepped to have a polyp removed from his vocal cords.

Welcome to the club, Janet Jackson.

How many more of Hollywood’s warblers are going down from this throat epidemic that’s hit Tinseltown hard?

Nicole Kidman‘s husband is scheduled to have a polyp removed from his vocal cords, star news learned. And we’re wondering if there’s some kind of voice curse that’s been following celebrities around since October, given that Urban‘s the fourth case we’ve reported so far…

He follows in the footsteps of John Mayer (granuloma removal), Adele (vocal cord hemmorhage), and Marie Osmond (really bad bronchitis) who’ve been taken out of commission in the last two months for throat-related conditions…

“The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of  recuperation,”

Urban‘s rep has said in a statement.

Is it just us, or are music-makers these day going under the knife in drives to preserve their pipes? Either the mass number is merely a coincidence, or there must be a very serious outbreak of throat illness going around in Hollywood.

Marie must’ve been belting it out real good to lose her voice like that. After all, she’s been performing for almost 50 years of her life…

The singer, better known for the “Donny & Marie” variety show in the 70′s, probably thought she could handle the pressure on her vocal cords, but apparently not. It seemed she was suffering from allergies before she hit the Vegas stage where she and Donny were doing their circuit, and it turned out for the worse.

“So the allergies went into a bronchitis,”

she tweeted.

“Didn’t realize it until I went to hit the high notes last night on stage. Pie Jesu was kinda P-U.”

So now Marie joins John Mayer and Adele who’ve been suffering from conditions of the throat. Good thing she doesn’t have to undergo surgery like those two. Is there some kind of vocal cord epidemic going on in Tinseltown?

John was reported to have visited a medical center several times in the last couple of months after some sort of throat illness caused him to scrap a show and delay the release of a new album. Resting his voice didn’t help his condition any, and he finally sought a specialized medical diagnosis which pointed toward a throat tumor.

No, it’s not the big C, but it’s a tumor nonetheless that’s bound to interfere with his profession in a major way…because what’s a singer without a voice?

The granuloma, an inflamed nodule that’s taken on the appearance of a tumor-like mass of tissue, was caused when immune cells formed naturally in the body when the immune system sought to ward off foreign substances or infectious organisms, such as bacteria and fungi.

John must have been exposing himself, and his throat, in particular, to a lot of “foreign substances and infectious organism” in the last couple of years and his body has been fighting back by forming the granuloma. Nothing malignant, really. But something that’s sure to grow and affect his voice and livelihood if left untreated.

Let’s hope John Mayer recovers from his medical ordeal stat and regard his granuloma incident as a second chance to take a better stance on his health in the future…

According to celebrity news, John was concerned about how he kept losing all these beautiful women for some reason or another…his big mouth (“Jessica Simpson is sexual napalm”), dumping them over the phone (Taylor Swift), and cheating on them (Jennifer Aniston). So he sought relationship advice from VH1′s “Tough Love” host, Steve Ward, to ask him where he went wrong.

“When he had me alone, John asked me what I thought about his love life, so I told him point blank, ‘I think you got a chip on your shoulder, man. You’re pissed off about your childhood or being bullied, and now you unfortunately take it out on women.’”

Ward advised, which took John aback quite a bit.

“I told him he had to realize that he had won. He was ten times more successful than the next most successful person to come out of his high school. And odds are, they had to graduate to be that successful. I told him, ‘If I were you, I’d pat myself on the back, and let go of it,’”

Well, that isn’t such a tough thing to do, John. Let go of your anger, let go of your past…tell yourself how great you are and women will come flocking.

We’ve heard John Mayer has canceled his appearances in L.A. with Tony Bennet, and at Las Vegas for the iHeartRadio Music Festival because doctors have found an inflamed nodule that’s taken on the appearance of a tumor-like mass of tissue right around the vicinity of his vocal cords.

“I know there were people depending on me to be there and I’m sorry that I can’t be on those stages,”

self-confessed former Twitter addict Mayer wrote on his Tumblr a few hours ago.

“After several months of going week to week monitoring and hoping to correct the condition, I am forced to cancel my upcoming singing engagements due to something next to my vocal cords called a granuloma.”

Fortunately, we’ve learned Granulomas are immune cells that form naturally in the body when our immune system seeks to ward off foreign substances or infectious organism, such as bacteria and fungi. So John Mayer should count himself lucky his body is fighting against illness on his behalf.

So what’s about those foreign substances/infectious organisms he has in his throat? He isn’t channeling his publicly perceived sex addict persona into the realm of orally fixated activities is he?

Apparently they were getting all touchy-feely over Grammys weekend, and she was following him around all night at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party. Backstage at the Grammys, Miley was rubbing John’s back, and when he thought no one was looking, he leaned over and kissed her. “It was quick and intense and a bit shocking, but it also seemed sweet,” an eyewitness claims. “Afterward, Miley slapped his butt and told him, ‘You rock!’. Miley has told friends that she believes she can make John a one-woman man, and thinks they are great together because she’s as wild as he is.

Just the age difference alone with this match up is strange. John is in his 30s and Miley just cracked 18! Do you think there’s any truth to these statements? Miley and her family have a lot going on - hopefully this won’t add to it!

While strolling down the street, Mayer was reportedly heckled by a group of women who told him what a Grade A douche he truly is.

“Girls came up and yelled at him, saying he was a horrible person. Girls asked how he could treat women the way he did. People would tell him exactly what they thought of him. He’s now looking for a new team to manage his image. He wants to change people’s perspective on him.”

At this point all of us no more about John Mayer‘s sex life than we ever intended. As a source tells Page Six:

“He said that she was going to make someone very happy one day, as long as she remembered to talk dirty while having sex,” the source said. The girl walked away speechless.

I wonder if that was a thinly unveiled invitation on the part of Mr. Mayer? So does this mean Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Love Hewitt all talk dirty? TMI…big time.

For those not in the know, Giada is a Food Network celebrity with a husband and baby. This week, Star reports that the two shared a nasty little fling earlier this year.

“Multiple sources tell Star that John has shared hot nights with sexy Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis.

Last month, John and Giada — who has a 2-year-old daughter with her husband of seven years, Anthropologie fashion designer Todd Thompson — were seen together at the Boom Boom Room at The Standard hotel in New York.“John had one hand on the small of her back,” an eyewitness tells Star. “They looked like two people who were going to go home together.”

While he admits to being a guilty faux-artist in the past, John Mayer‘s love affair with tweeting and status updating is over. For now. He said:

“It occurred to me that since the invocation of Twitter, nobody who has participated in it has created any lasting art. And yes! Yours truly is included in that roundup as well. No artwork created by someone with a healthy grasp of social media thus far has proven to be anything other than disposable. I’m not knocking Twitter for those who are trying to make a name for themselves. Some people need all the RTs they can get today,” he sniped. “But for those who have already established themselves it’s a slow erosion of the artistic notion.”

He continues to say he’s readying himself for a new album and it might take a while because “good art” takes a very long time.
