Kate Beckinsale and her 13-year-old daughter Lily Mo Sheen share the same love for books and are both super fans of “The Hunger Games” and the “Harry Potter” book series. But the “Underworld” star says that reading has not always brought forth an inspiring and fun bonding time between them.

Beckinsale told Us Weekly:

“[Lily] read ‘Twilight‘ and was completely obsessed with them. It actually almost ruined Christmas one year because all she wanted to do was be a vampire and she didn’t want anything on her Christmas list.”

But Kate also shares that her daughter whom she had with her ex Michael Sheen got her love for reading from her:

“I’ve been very obsessed with reading since I was tiny. My mum was a big reader and very much imposed reading on me and I’m the same with my daughter, who’s a huge reader.”

No wonder Lily got so much into one of her books! After all, she’s just a female teenager who could easily fall in love with the sparkly Edward Cullen…

The newly single and sexy Eva Longoria was in the company of her party gals Victoria Beckham and Kate Beckinsale once again when she rang in her 37th birthday at Cecconi’s in Los Angeles last night. The ”Desperate Housewives” star’s injured foot was obviously all better as she even celebrated with Kevin Connolly, Mario Lopez and his fiancee Courtney Mazza, and several others at Cut last Tueday.

The birthday girl tweeted:

“My house is a flower shop! I’m overwhelmed with happiness today! Thank U everybody!”

While many female celebrities opt for plunging necklines and outrageous outfits to be noticed, the “Underworld” actress still turned heads in this colorful number—which we have been seeing nowadays considering that it’s barely summer yet—as she walked down the red carpet of the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, where Kate announced the nominees for the year’s tribute to the best in Indie films from few months ago, Saturday afternoon.

Kate paired her one-shoulder outfit with gold Christian Louboutin peep-toes, gold jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz, and a gold clutch from Gucci. Looks like peep-toes are becoming her thing now… which we love of course!

Loose wavy hair and glossy pink lips completed Kate’s look for the night.

Photos of Victoria Beckham with the “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria and the gorge “Underworld” lead Kate Beckinsale have been making rounds in Hollywood celebrity gossip sites since yesterday, showing the three of them partying it up at a Vanity Fair and Chrysler party for Eva‘s newly launched foundation.

The celebrity BFFs Eva and Victoria—who seems to have a knack for grabbing questionable body parts lately—took the rather scandalous picture during the event which was later explained to be just a photo of a lady helping out another by keeping the front of her dress up and shielding her chest. Well, isn’t that just sweet.

But really, why wouldn’t she? I mean, look at Eva‘s dress! Her chest was practically popping out of it!

Eva tweeted along with the photo of her and Victoria:

“My beautiful girl @victoriabeckham supporting me @vanityfair”

Pun intended, we suppose.

Kate, who always looks like a goddess in chic designer dresses and sexy form-hugging ensembles, kept it classy in a white (with a hint of blue) off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood draped gown which she paired with simple gray Ferragamo peep-toes and a Kotur clutch.

The actress took home the Lacoste Spotlight Award for her work in several films.

She completed her look with a braided bun, Bochic jewels, silver smokey eyes and shimmery pink lipstick.

Kate, who wore a sexy red Michael Kors dress at the “Underworld: Awakening” photocall in Madrid, opted for a strapless Christian Dior dress from the designer’s Spring 2012 collection when she hit up Berlin to promote her new movie.

The actress completed the look with simple black peep-toes and a large cocktail ring.

As for hair and makeup, Kate pulled her dark curls into a high ponytail and accentuated her gorgeous features with soft smokey eyes and glossy pink lips.

We actually like her hair and makeup here, although not everyone would probably agree, as the hairstyle seems too teenybopper-esque for someone like Kate. But she looks so cute!

The dress, on the other hand, is just blah. It doesn’t do anything for her figure, and it’s boring.

Kate, who looked stunning in Roberto Cavalli at the Golden Globe Awards last week, pulled out another gorgeous look for the L.A. premiere of her latest movie, “Underworld: Awakening.”

The 38-year-old beauty walked the red carpet in a sparkly Jenny Packham drop-waist gown, which was covered in silver and gold sequins and gems.

Kate accessorized with gold bangles and earrings from Amrapali jewelry, and Salvatore Ferragamo pumps.

Kate wore a Tadashi Shoji minidress, which was made of nude tulle and embroidered white lace. She completed the outfit with nude Brian Atwood pumps and simple white drop earrings.

As for hair and makeup, Kate opted for soft waves, pink lips, and shimmery taupe eyeshadow.

It’s a cute dress, isn’t it? And Kate’s legs look amazing. But really, aside from those two factors, there’s nothing special about the look.

The super sexy actress, who has been on hiatus from acting, is coming back with a number of films—including the latest installment of “Underworld.” She tells Flaunt:

“I’ve been away for a whole year… It’s been great. I didn’t find anything I wanted to do enough to take me away from my kid.”

Thankfully, her husband, director and “Underworld” director Len Wiseman, was able to convince her to shimmy back into her skintight leather catsuit and play Selene, her steaming hot vampire character in the “Underworld” films.

But aside from “Underworld: Awakening,” Kate will also be starring in a remake of 1990 sci-fi film “Total Recall” alongside Colin Farrell. However, despite the fact that she agreed to do the movie, she admits that she has her doubts about doing remakes. She says:

“I do think it’s a shame that it’s hard for directors to get an original idea that wasn’t a comic or wasn’t a remake or wasn’t a game or something… You’re constantly finding yourself having to defend doing a remake when you didn’t really want to make one in the first place.”

So why does she agree to do these movies, if she’s not really 100% sure about wanting to do it? Kate admits:

“Basically, the really big movies that I have done that suck have… turned out at various crisis points in my life where I think, ‘Shit, I need to make sure I can take care of my kid.’ You know, it’s a weird thing that your hobby, the thing you feel great about, is also the thing that makes you go, ‘Okay, well, I have to be able to pay a mortgage bill.’ It shouldn’t be the case. The bottom line is that will happen sometimes.”

Kate then gives us a glimpse into her naughty, playful side, which her husband Len gets to see a lot of. She shares:

“Poor Len… He puts up with a lot. That poor guy does not come home without somebody dropping off the top of a wardrobe at his head. It’s because I’ve never come across anybody as un-neurotic as my husband, and so I do feel compelled to test it all the time… When he goes to sleep, there was a whole period of time when I was gluing beards to his face, and mustaches, and bullet holes in his head… I love that kind of stuff.”

Kate wore a sleek strapless white Gucci column gown, which was gathered at the bodice area and cinched at the waist with a gold and black statement belt. Drawing inspiration from the gorgeous belt, the actress completed the outfit with a pair of black heels, a gold KOTUR clutch, and black and gold earrings.

Kate’s makeup consisted of smokey eyes and glossy lips. As for her hair, she opted for a slightly awkward-looking hairstyle—the top of her hair was sleek and flattened while the bottom part was styled in big, poufy curls.

Everything about Kate’s look is divine… except the hair. There’s just something weird about it.

Kate and her (normally handsome) director hubby, Len have been married for seven years now and they still look so happily in love. Envy, envy!

Frankenstein met his bride on the set of Underworld which Len directed and Kate was the lead actress! I love Beckinsale, I think she’s just so gorgeous, isn’t she? As for Frankenstein, he’s not shabby looking neither that’s without his Frankenstein mask.

Kate will be starring opposite Mark Wahlberg in the remake of Contraband which won’t be hitting theaters till 2012. Anything Kate Beckinsale, I’ll be watching!

Kate went to her salon, but instead of leaving her dog at home, she thought it would be nice to take him. And leave him in the car for hours with no water or cracked windows. Yeah, I see some protesting going on here. From Fame:

Kate Beckinsale spent hours inside the Byron Tracy Salon on November 19, 2009 in Los Angeles, California while her poor little pup sat in the car the whole time. Kate also left all the windows up, no water, his leash and harness on, which could kill a poor little guy if the weather gets hot enough, which southern California is known for, even in winter. PETA might have a bone to pick with Mrs. Beckinsale once they hear about this.

Is there some kind of law against this or is it just cruel for her to do, with no recriminations? The dog didn’t appear harmed, but there were lots of photographers watching it the whole time to prevent it from getting in trouble. Do you think Kate should be punished?

During the Underworld shoot, Beckinsale split from her ex-partner. She became involved with the director of the film, Len Wiseman. The two have been married since May, 2004.
