The actress, who used to star in romantic comedies, is embracing a paradigm shift in her career in an upcoming action-thriller soon to hit the big screen…

Can you imagine this soft, blonde, 32-year-old mother of two with a cute smile toting guns, knives, and kicking ass? Nope, we can’t either. But Kate hasn’t been in the limelight all that much for the past few years, and while she’s had steady work, it seems her staple of rom-coms haven’t been doing it for her lately, and she hasn’t been able to capture the same success she’d had after winning a Golden Globe for “Almost Famous.”

So Kate Hudson is going to reinvent herself and join the ranks of Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, Kate Beckinsale, and Milla Jovovich.

She’ll be starring in “Everly,” as a woman who breaks up with her mob boss boyfriend and is forced to protect herself against the assassins he hired to kill her.

The one-shoulder design she’s wearing and the side cut-out mesh panel shows off Kate‘s well-defined torso and her flat tummy despite having delivered her second son, Bingham in July, and celebrity news can’t get over how good she looks with the chiseled cheekbones bared by her simple top-knot…

Kate Hudson reveals that pal, Stella McCartney, was the first designer to dress her up for her first ever red carpet event way back in 2001:

“It was my first and only nomination. I was 21 years old and to have Stella McCartney dressing me, well, I felt like the hippest, coolest girl in the world. Up until the last minute Stella was still sewing the hem.”

Kate recalls.

“I woke up the next morning, turned on the television to find out I was on every Worst Dressed list. So I called Stella and we just laughed our arses off and she said to me, ‘Look babe, it was the hem wasn’t it?’”

Both Kate and Stella sure have come a long way since that red carpet fiasco 10 years ago…

Quite frankly, celebrity news is relieved that Kate‘s wide, contagious grin remains intact, but we’re stymied about her decision to play this (literally) dark role that seems to leave her celebrity fashion and grooming suspect.

Still, it does make quite a change from the ditzy roles Kate usually plays, and with her involvement in “The Reluctant Fundamentalist”, she may be gunning for an Oscar-winning performance. The closest she’s come is an Academy Award nomination for playing a groupie following a band in “Almost Famous”.

“The Reluctant Fundamentalist” is based on an international New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Mohsin Hamid. The movie also stars Kiefer Sutherland, Rizwan Ahmed, and Liev Schrieber.

Bill, Goldie‘s second husband, and a third of 70′s American music group The Hudson Brothers, is alleging his kids, particularly Kate, have cut off all contact with him and her grandma, who he says is suffering from Alzheimer’s.

“Kate doesn’t have to talk to me and she doesn’t have to give her a dime of her millions. All I want is for her to call and say, ‘Hi grandma’, before it’s too late,”

Bill told Hollywood gossip news in sob-story fashion.

“I love Kate, but… She has done stuff which is just awful. She is a spoiled brat in my eyes and at the end of the day, she should meet her little sister. I should meet my grandchild and she should help her grandmother.”

I think he had us at “dime” and “millions.” Nothing wrong with dear old dad trying to make money with a book, while attempting to shame his daughter into tossing some of her fortune his way.

We haven’t heard Kate‘s take on her daddy’s rants yet, but we think Bill should look up Michael Lohan and share tips over a pint one of these days. Now that Michael‘s been doing it for years, he’s a master. Who knows, Hudson Senior might just learn a few things.

The Muse rocker gave everyone a first glimpse of their little bundle of joy yesterday when he tweeted an adorable, old-school type photo of Kate and Bing, with the caption:

Hudson and the Muse frontman Bellamy, 33, debuted their romance in late spring 2010; according to Hollywood news, they reportedly met years ago in Australia.

“This is a totally different pregnancy, completely,” Hudson said in April. “It couldn’t be more opposite…With Ryder, I didn’t even have a nursery. I didn’t really have a house until I was seven months pregnant.”

As to tying the knot again with her rocker baby daddy? Kate initially wasn’t so keen to get married again.

“I don’t feel it necessary to get married,” she said on British chat show The Graham Norton Show. “I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.”

But surely she must have changed her mind as she debuted her huge engagement ring (see photo gallery below); which is estimated to worth $200,000; and announced her engagement on The Today Show back on April 27.

Congratulations to the happy couple. Other baby news, Victoria and David Beckham just welcomed their baby girl born earlier this morning. Looks like Kate and Victoria have a lot to chat about.

Angelina Pivarnick – Jersey Shore’s Angelina is expecting a baby this coming fall. It’s a happy and sad story. We wonder who’s the baby daddy?

Victoria Beckham – Posh and her gorgeous soccer ace husband, David Beckham are expecting their fourth child this summer. The couple is so hoping for a girl since they are already proud parents of three smart looking boys. Amazing to see Victoria so pregnant and still wearing her killer heels! I wonder whether she’ll wears some flats going into delivery!

Natalie Portman – This is a huge year in Natalie’s life. The soon-to-be mommy won an Oscar this year and now she’s going to be a mother. This will be Natalie’s first child with her Black Swan co-star, fiancé, Benjamin Millepied. Their baby is due this summer.

The two have been dating for a little over a year and Bellamy proposed in New York City last week. So this is, literally, brand new.

This will be the second wedding for Kate, who was once married to Black Crowes frontman, Chris Robinson, with whom she has one child. The two went their separate ways in 2006.

And here we are…I babble a lot. I forget words. And how to put sentences together,” Hudson laughs. “I just give up.”

“It was an intimate party. They kept their engagement secret as they wanted to celebrate with their nearest and dearest before it became public knowledge.”

Matt started playing the piano at the age of 6 and later on guitar at the age of 14. Bellamy was ranked #19 on Gigwise’s list of The 50 Greatest Guitarists Ever. Gigwise is an online music site.

Matthew and Kate started dating nine months ago, not too long after Kate and baseball celebrity A Rod’s (Alex Rodriguez) relationship went south.

Kate has a son, Ryder, 7-year-old with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson who’s also a musician. Chris is the singer of the Rock n Roll band, The Black Crowes. This will be Matt’s first child.

Her new beau, Muse front man Matthew Bellamy, has confirmed he is dating the 31-year-old actress and that he is set to meet her mother next week, London’s Daily Mirror reports.

“I’m quite nervous,” he told the British tabloid of his upcoming rendezvous with Goldie Hawn. “You don’t want her reading daft stories about you online – it’s embarrassing when you meet someone’s family for the first time.”

Oh, how sweet! He’s worried about meeting her parents and her family and making a good impression. Do you think Kate has finally found the one?

Kate has a thing for rockers, we know that! Has she been keeping this romance under wraps?

The actress hopped a plane to Paris over the weekend and attended the second of two sold-out shows for the British rock band Muse Saturday, standing in an audio tent amid a crowd of 80,000 at the Stade de France.

The next day, she was spotted around town with the band’s frontman, Matthew Bellamy, who is a singer, guitarist and songwriter.

The pair were seen strolling through the Place Vendome, a square in the center of Paris. “They seemed very much a couple,” a witness tells PEOPLE. “Just walking together, enjoying the sunshine.”

Now, hopping on a plane to France is a lot different than getting in the car and driving to a concert. She must have a thing for him, wouldn’t you think?
