Michelle Phillips says that in 1997, Mackenzie told everyone in their extended family that she and her father, Michelle’s famous former husband, had had a sexual relationship. “ Makenzie called Michelle back and said, ‘You know I’m joking,’ ”  “I said it wasn’t funny. Mackenzie said, ‘I guess we have different senses of humor.’ ” – via Showbiz 411

Michelle and John Phillips were the foundation of the great ’60s singing group the Mamas and the Papas, along with Cass Elliott and Denny Doherty. Their brief marriage ended in 1968.

Mackenzie alleges in her tell-all book “High on Arrival” that she and John had sex for the first time when she was 19, on the eve of her own first marriage. Four years later, she writes, they had a full-blown affair.

Michelle hasn’t read Mackenzie’s book.”

Michelle Phillips has been critical of John in the past. 

“John was a bad parent, and a drug addict. But [expletive deleted] his daughter? If she thinks it’s true, why isn’t she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? I think it’s unconscionable that Oprah would let her do her show. I have every reason to believe it’s untrue. Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show.”

Michelle added: “Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness. She’s had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years. She was arrested for heroin and coke just recently. She did ‘Celebrity Rehab’ and now she writes a book. The whole thing is timed.” via Showbiz 411

I don’t know what to make out of it. Anyone who has a needle stuck in her arm for 35 years, is a very sad case.

Phillips, 49, who has survived drug addiction, arrests and divorce, writes in her tell-all book ”High on Arrival” her father and her had sex on the night before she was to marry Jeffer Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones entourage in 1979. At that time Mackenzie was already playing a boy-crazy teen on the TV sitcom One Day at a Time.

“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it,” writes Phillips, who was 19 and a heavy drug user at the time. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”"My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.”Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout.” – via Pop Eater

Phillips’ life started to spiral out of control in 1980. Her drug addiction had her fired from One Day at a Time.  That same year, she went to rehab with her father. Her sexual relationship with her father became consensual and he even wanted her to run away with him.

“He was completely delusional. No, I thought, we’re going to hell for this.”

I just think it’s really sad. Please say no to DRUGS.

The actress has a long history of drug abuse.  It was the reason why she was kicked off the show in the early 80s – she couldn’t keep clean.  Her co-star was Valerie Bertinelli, who did manage to stay clean and go on and have a better career.  Well, sort of since she married Eddie Van Halen, a notorious drug user and alcoholic. 

E! Online says she had cocaine and the heroin in her possession to take on the airplane.  Duh!  Like the screeners aren’t going to notice it…
