And how can Madonna not be pissed? She goes and pulls out all the stops and gives a dazzling halftime show (with over-the-top costumes and special effects), and M.I.A. still manages to upstage her… with a simple flick of her middle finger.

This morning, Madonna called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest“ and revealed her exact thoughts about M.I.A.’s bird-flipping stunt:

“I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it.”

Madge continued:

“I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative.”

She added:

“It’s such a teenager … irrelevant thing to do … there was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point? It was just out of place.”

Maybe we still can’t forget that dynamic 2004 Super Bowl performance where Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson imprinted that wardrobe malfunction into our retinas forever. But who can discount the time when The Rolling Stones dominated halftime in 2006, Bruce Springsteen in 2009, and last year with Usher and the Black Eyed Peas?

Okay, so Madge did turn on the spectacular special effects with a glaring display of lights, and garnished her performance with a cast of nearly a hundred dancers, stuntmen, and other extras. It didn’t detract from the fact that she moved as slow as molasses in January. Even her dancers seemed more upbeat. Madge moving kind of reminded us of her striking a pose  in her “Vogue” music video, which happened to be her first number, by the way.

She was carried in by a troupe of gold-leaf adorned gladiators while she perched on an Egyptian throne, nearly lost her balance on a platform with her dancers, and was neatly upstaged by M.I.A. who gave tens of millions of viewers the wrong upraised finger while performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj in “Give Me All Your Luvin’.”

Has Madonna lost her touch? She can hardly be counted to be controversial anymore.

Even Cee Lo Green dressed more magnificently than Madge did with his black and glittering sequined pastor’s robe when he joined Madonna‘s gospel choir for “Like A Prayer.”

But the finale when Madge suddenly disappeared below in a puff of smoke, and in absentia sang the last few notes,

“…and it feels like home…”

really gave us goosebumps. Is this a portent of what’s to come?

Maybe the Material Girl hasn’t totally lost her touch completely, but whatever it is she has now, we’re guessing this year’s Super Bowl set the sunset stage for Madonna Louise Ciccone…

Gaga may have an unwavering obsession for Madonna, but the latter does not seem to return the love. In fact, it seems every interview she’s ever had, she’s always dissing Gaga!

When asked about what she thought of Gaga in her recent interview with The Advocate, Madonna replied coolly:

“I have no thoughts.”

Then, when asked to comment about Lady Gaga’s influence on today’s gay youth, Madonna responded:

“It seems genuine… It seems natural, and I can see why she has a young gay following. I can see that they connect to her kind of not fitting into the conventional norm. I mean, she’s not Britney Spears. She’s not built like a brick sh-thouse.”

She added:

“[Gaga] seems to have had a challenging upbringing, and so I can see where she would also have that kind of connection, a symbiotic relationship with gay men.”

Sorry, Gaga… Madonna just can’t seem to bring herself to return the love you have for her!

Yay or nay?

For her latest red carpet appearance, Madonna chose an eye-popping velvet Marchesa gown with an embroidered bodice, a long dramatic train, and tulle sleeves. The most striking feature, however, was the puffy tulle fabric around her shoulders.

The Material Girl accessorized with a silver necklace with a “W.E.” pendant, chunky bracelets and rings, and black peep-toe pumps.

Soft, natural makeup and a wavy faux bob completed the look.

We think the dress would have looked better on someone taller… someone much, much taller.  On Madonna’s tiny frame, it just looks huge and overpowering.

A mere comedian like Gervais insulting a pop icon? Inconceivable!

But the Material Girl took it in stride and threw her own insult right back…which just goes to show that you never mess with somebody who’s kissed a girl, not only on TV, but in real life, as well…

English comic Gervais, known for his controversial comments the last time he hosted the Globes, introduced her Madgesty with a sarcastic commentary:

“She’s always vogue. She’s a material girl. And she’s just like a virgin.”

And Madonna, stepping up to the mic to receive her award for her tune “Masterpiece” from the movie “W.E.,” which she also directed, quipped back without missing a beat:

“If I’m still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don’t you come over here and do something about it? I haven’t kissed a girl in a few years… on TV.”

True, it’s been eight years since Madonna and Britney Spears‘ torrid liplock at the 2003 VMAs, and in fact, a full 14 years since the Material Girl stepped foot on the red carpet for the Golden Globes, so not only did the double nominee pull out all the stops in a sparkly and plunging Reem Acra gown, she also gave as good as she got. So boo-ya, Ricky Gervais, you’re out of your depth.

And wouldn’t you know it, just as soon as Madonna dared Gervais to solve her “virginity” problem, another pop superstar who’s “kissed a girl and liked it,” Katy Perry shouted out on her Twitter just moments later:

“Madge looks goooooood. I’d tap that.”

It seems the Material Girl had a listen on Mother Monster‘s allegedly heavily Madonna-influenced chart-topping single and found it wanting. Like other critics of Lady Gaga, did Madonna think she got ripped off by a attention-seeking sensationalist wannabe?

Still, hasn’t Gaga cited Madonna as a huge inspiration to her current body of work? So what if that influence has trickled down to the actual chord structures of her songs?

“I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done,”

Madonna told ABC News in an interview.

“There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it …because, obviously, I’ve influenced her.”

Unfortunately, the 53-year-old pop icon thinks Lady Gaga may have gone overboard in attempting to channel the one and only Madonna.

“When I heard it on the radio …I said that sounds very familiar,”

Madonna admits.

“It feels reductive.”

And for the uninformed, synonyms for “reductive”  include “backward,” “coarse,” and “crude.”

Ouch.

It seems for the Material Girl, Mother Monster will only ever be a wannabe.

Who? Oh, you know, the young guy who’s been hanging off her purse arm lately.

The 53-year-old Material Girl says she’s ready to tie the knot again, but the only person we see she’s dating right now is her boy toy of a French dancer, Brahim Zaibat. You know, the even younger guy who replaced Brazilian model Jesus Luz, who just happened to be Madonna‘s favorite arm prop up to a couple of years ago. Is Brahim Zaibat The One?

“I could actually. Yes,”

her Madgesty says in an interview on BBC America’s “The Graham Norton Show.”

Really? Brahim Zaibat?

But Madonna says searching for Mr. Right is a really daunting task. And hey, we didn’t even know she was searching.

“Unfortunately we are raised on those fairytales and even if we are sophisticated, educated, intellectually evolved human beings we still, in the back of our mind, think that Mr. Right is going to come along and we are going to live happily ever after,”

she waxes eloquently on the subject.

“In the front of our minds we keep getting reminded it’s not true and in the back of our minds we keep thinking it’s true so we keep getting disappointed. It’s a paradox – you want it, but if you have half a brain you know it doesn’t really exist.”

So we guess if she feels Brahim Zaibat makes for good husband material, who are we to stop her?

“I didn’t choose to, you know, I didn’t, like, write down on a piece of paper, ‘I’m now going to have a relationship with a younger man,’”

She says, defending her choices.

“That’s just what happened. You see, that’s the romantic in me. I just met someone that I cared for, and this happened to be his age.”

But the crux of the matter is:

“I don’t want to live my life on my own. I love being a mother. My children fill me up in many ways, and inspire me in many ways, but I need a partner in my life and I think most people feel that way,”

Madonna reveals.

“I’ve never really lived a conventional life, so I think it’s quite foolish for me or anyone else to start thinking that I am going to start making conventional choices.”

And we totally get that. Really, we do.

Just as J.Lo has her backup dancer, Casper Smart, and Demi Moore allegedly has her own hot model boyfriend…uh, assistant, Blake Corl-Baietti, we truly expect that, perhaps this year, Madonna Louise Ciccone is likely to become Mrs. Brahim Zaibat…

AnythingHollywood initially published a post on Anthony Ciccone two months ago when he was living under a bridge after having lost his job from the family’s Ciccone Vineyard owned by Madonna‘s dad, Silvio. Meanwhile, he kept himself alive by scavenging bottles and cans for a living. Even assuming he’s the family’s black sheep, won’t the multimillionaire Material Girl bother to offer assistance to a brother in need?

The 55-year-old Anthony spent this holiday season sleeping on the rough streets of Traverse City, Michigan in sub-zero conditions, but no, he hasn’t received an invite to sleep under Madonna‘s warm, cozy roof.

Sources say Anthony goes around wearing layers of filthy clothes and wanders the streets of Traverse City looking for warmth and shelter – oftentimes having no recourse but to sleep under bridges or doorways. This despite having Madonna for a sister, and a big Italian-American family who owns a vineyard not 20 miles away from where he huddles down to sleep against the cold.

“If I show up on their doorstep they will tolerate me for a day or two,”

Anthony revealed to RadarOnline.

Oh, for shame! Are Madonna and the rest of the Ciccone clan going to leave this brother to rot in the streets come 2012, too?

Madonna‘s scheduled to release her fragrance next year, and the black-and-white ad showing double images of her wearing nothing but diamond earrings, her signature diamond-encrusted cross, and deep red lips give us a taste of the campaign to come.

In fact, Madge is set to launch a whole new “lifestyle brand” next year, of which Truth or Dare is merely a small part. Expect shoes, handbags, lingerie, and jewelry featuring her Madgesty in a global print, television, and online marketing campaign.

Behold…another reinvention of the iconic Madonna is at hand…

And it’s about time, isn’t it?

Well, why not? Madge is no stranger to going the AC+DC route, having been linked with comedian Sandra Bernhard and Sandra‘s pal, lesbian Ingrid Casares in the past. Maybe she’s gotten tired of her boy-toy phase and is ready to return to something that’s made her happy a long time ago…

And is this December Harper’s Bazaar cover with Andrea Riseborough, the star of Madonna‘s critically panned directorial debut, “W.E.” any indication of that return?

Hollywood news can’t say for certain whether her Madgesty’s giving us a hint of things to come, or merely wants to shock us speechless like she used to do during her heyday in the 90′s.

“I think that the world is not comfortable with female sexuality,”

Madge declares.

“It’s always coming from a male point of view, and a woman is being objectified by a man — and even women are comfortable with that. But when a woman does it, ironically, women are uncomfortable with it. I think a lot of that has to do with conditioning.”

A type of “conditioning” Madonna has been exempt from, apparently.

“The fact that I didn’t have a mother helped me in some respect, and that I didn’t have a female role model. I was always very aware of sexual politics, growing up in a Catholic-Italian family in the Midwest, seeing that my brothers could do what they wanted but the girls were always told that they needed to dress a certain way, act a certain way.”

So with that revelation, is Madonna about to revert back to her bisexual ways?

“Straight men did not find me attractive,”

she complains.

“I think they were scared of me because I was different.”

Well, yes, you are different, Madge. But not so different from other female stars who’ve forged a path of their own. Nicki Minaj, for instance. Or Rihanna. Even the late, lamented Amy Winehouse. The only thing is, you’re a dinosaur now trying to make a music comeback with a leaked single that doesn’t seem to be creating any waves at all.

According to entertainment news today, Her Madgesty is so upset about the leak, and so is her team, who’ve been pulling their weight and blocking the leaked audio left and right wherever they find it…

“The plan was for new music to come out in the new year… and yet someone leaked a demo version of a song yesterday..”

Madonna‘s manager Guy Oseary tweeted earlier.

“Im very happy with the positive reaction to the demo, but we are very upset with whoever leaked the song!!!!!!!! “we are asking that the fans please help us police any more leaks.. we have a lot in store for you.. but please respect the process..”

Oseary also said that Madge would never believe a fan of hers would do this.

“madonna told me this morning ‘my true fans wouldn’t do this’… whoever is responsible for this leak, we ask that you please stop!..”

Why Madonna and her production team are so frantic about damage control, one can only guess…but doesn’t this sound like someone’s idea of payback time for those hydrangeas?

The 53-year-old iconic entertainer, known for  continually reinventing herself, had her last tour, “Sticky & Sweet”, in 2009. Since then, she’s been concentrating on other endeavors: falling off horses and breaking her arm, divorcing second husband Guy Ritchie, taking up with male models barely above the legal age, starting a clothing company with daughter Lourdes for whose copyright she’s now being sued, and directing a critically panned film that drew boos from viewers in the UK.

So we guess the music she’s been so famous for has taken a long hiatus and needs to be revived. And we’ve heard her people are in contact with rising rap star Nicki Minaj‘s people for the possibility of a team up to record her comeback track.

What a role reversal this would be for Madonna, if this piece of news were true. Almost as if she were “Like A Virgin” again.

Anthony, who has been homeless for nearly two years now, has some pretty conflicted feelings for his sister. When asked about what it was like growing up with Madonna, he responded:

“She was a b*tch, just like she is now.  She remains true to form.”

Despite his harsh opinion of Madonna, Anthony admitted:

‘I’m proud of my sister… But it’s been a burden, because I can’t be me; I have to be related to a celebrity. People have their ideas and expectations. My sister’s a multimillionaire but she earned it, I have to give her credit for that.”

Anthony has reportedly been battling a drug and alcohol addiction for years now, and although she hasn’t been helping him out recently, Madonna reportedly footed the bill for his rehab treatment and gave him and their dad a winery business—which he got fired from.

We think it’s possible that Madonna no longer wants to help him because he’s been given too many chances to get clean, and he’s squandered them all. Who would want to help someone after that, right?

And also, he called her a b*tch… so he’s probably not going to get anything from Madonna anytime soon.

Does star news dare speculate on the fact that this may be the beginning of the end of Madonna‘s rule?

Her Madgesty has been having quite a landslide of troubles of late. First somebody sues her for the use of the “Material Girl” label for the teen clothing line she and daughter, Lourdes started last year. Then all the bad press about how she publicly insulted a fan for his offering of hydrangeas, and how she told her people to order volunteers at the Toronto International Film Festival to face the wall and not look at her as she walked past.

Lately, she’s reported to have extended no help to one of her brothers who’s been homeless for a year and living under a bridge, and now this.

What’s even more hurtful is that the booing issued from the mouths of British audiences, fellow countrymen of Prince Edward who abdicated his throne for American socialite and divorcee, Wallis Simpson, and their love story forms the basis of Madonna’s fledgling biopic. Was she by any chance trying to make a parallel to her own ill-fated marriage to British director, Guy Richie?

It seems Madonna‘s not having much luck with her life these days. Where did it all go wrong?

Apparently, not a single thing.

We don’t know whether Anthony Ciccone has come begging for help from his wealthy and famous younger sibling, but we’ve heard he’d been homeless for a year now ever since he’s lost his job from the Ciccone Vineyard owned by Madonna‘s dad, Silvio. Was there some sort of family feud involved?

“My family turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time. You think I haven’t answered this kind of question a bazillion times—why my sister is a multibazillionarie, and I’m homeless on the street?”

Anthony Ciccone laments.

If not Madonna, aren’t any of the other Ciccone siblings lending a hand to a brother who’s fallen on hard times? More to the point, are they the kind of tight-knit Italian-American family that actually does that?

If we’re basing it on how the Ciccone family are prone to turn upon each other, as when gay younger brother Christopher Ciccone, a Miami-based designer, wrote a damning and graphic tell-all book about Madge, an act which brought about eternal estrangement, then we’re guessing Anthony Ciccone will have to panhandle somewhere else to get the financial help he needs…

So is this really an apology from her Madgesty, or does she intend to fan the flames after all the heat she’s taken since that very telling video clip appeared of her dissing, at a press conference, in front of a microphone, the very person who’d adoringly taken the time to give an offering of a bunch of hydrangeas.

Hollywood gossip news knows she needs the controversy. The once notorious Material Girl, known for her provocative and scandalous behavior in the 80′s and 90′s, has sort of faded into the background of her nubile daughter’s rising beauty, and her increasingly younger boy toys. She hasn’t even given a tour since “Sticky and Sweet” in 2009, and her signature reinventions have become few and far between.

All she has right now are her critically panned directorial debut “W.E.,” and a pending lawsuit for stealing the “Material Girl” trademark for her clothing line.
