The swimmer helped to kick off the 2011 season of the Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas. Looks like the 14-time gold medal winner was well loved by the women as he was surrounded by a plethora of them. Many of the women in the pool even wore medals around their necks in an homage to Phelps.

Phelps led a champagne ceremony before getting into one of the three pools with mainly female attendants. The 25-year-old swimmer posed generously with his female fans.

2012 Olympics is fast approaching so Phelps will no doubt will be holed away somewhere for intense training; soon enough there won’t be the time for all these women at least not until the Olympics is over.

Kim Kardashian’s buddy Brittny enjoyed lunch and coffee with friends at Joan’s On Third in Los Angeles, California on January 16, 2011. Its been rumored that Brittny was pregnant not to0 long ago but she has already denied those rumors.. that was back in early December. Brittny has denied those preggy rumors and insisted she’s not dating the Olympic swimmer Phelps. But these images might create that store once again. 

I guess we’ll soon find out.

A source tells Radar Online, “She is heading back to LA now. She is so late and very worried. She has an appointment with the ob-gyn on Wednesday in Beverly Hills.”

Gastineau was spotted buying a pregnancy test in New York over the weekend. She was in town to celebrate the birthday of good friend and manager Darren Bettencourt and to promote her Tres Glam jewelry line.

Eye witnesses at Bettencourt’s bash at the Gansevoort Park Hotel’s Asellina restaurant noticed Brittny was drinking soda all night. No booze!

Well, we’ll soon find out. I hope if that’s the case, Michael is ready to be a daddy. Haven’t these two just hooked up very recently?

A source close to the pair tells TMZ.com the whole thing is kind of new, but the pair hung out at the Mondrian Hotel on Friday night and were “very cozy.” Then on Saturday, we’re told they hit up a Coffee Bean and did a little shopping … that’s when we caught up with them.

TMZ spotted the couple together at the Grove in Los Angeles … and as soon as our camera started up, they split in opposite directions.

Good job Brittny for landing yourself an American hero!

Phelps, who very famously was caught on camera taking bong hits, can rest easy that cops have decided the traffic accident wasn’t his fault. However, he should probably get a valid driver’s license. He’ll have to appear in court explaining why he has an expired Michigan liscense but resides in Maryland.

According to The New York Daily News, Phelps was not given any special treatment at the crime scene:

“We had our very best eyes on the situation, and we’re very well aware of his history and his notoriety,” he said. “We wanted to make sure that everything was done completely by the book.”

Sources tell us that his Escalade was smashed up and he was seen talking to police – barefoot! – on the corner of Biddle St. & Calvert St.

It appears that fishy Phelps hit the car in front of him as he was driving.

And, after the accident, “gawkers started snapping pics of Michael and the car crash and he started freaking out on them, ordering them to delete the photos!”

Not good for the Olympic swimmer. Keep your nose clean Michael! We know he has a history of substance issues…let’s keep those in the past.

Michael and his girlfriend hit up some clubs in the Manhattan party district.  And what happened you may find….sobering.  Ha!  From the NY Daily News:

“He was drinking straight from a bottle of Grey Goose, and when the deejay started playing M.I.A.’s ‘Paper Planes,’ he got up, started dancing like a loon and kept on yelling, ‘Shots!’”

Phelps definitely had enough alcohol on hand for several rounds — he’d ordered four bottles of vodka.

In addition, the athlete skeeved out onlookers when he persisted in PDA-ing with his girlfriend, cocktail waitress Caroline (Caz) Pal.

Well, I’d like to Michael the benefit of the doubt here, but it’s the NY Daily News.  Do they ever lie?  Michael needs to get a grip on the partying or his endorsement deals are done for good!

Michael is much luckier than the other 8 people who were charged in the incident.  Why did he get off?  fame?  Maybe.  this is what Bloomberg News says:

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps won’t face legal prosecution after being photographed smoking from a bong at a college party and getting a three-month swimming ban.

Sheriff Leon Lott of Richland County, South Carolina, said there wasn’t enough evidence to charge Phelps, who won a record eight gold medals in Beijing in 2008. A photograph taken at a South Carolina college party in November showed Phelps inhaling from a water pipe, which is commonly used to smoke marijuana.

“We had a photo and him saying he was sorry for inappropriate behavior,” Lott said during a televised press conference. “He never said, ‘I smoked marijuana.’ We didn’t have physical evidence.”

Ahhhha!  So that’s why the statement was carefully worded.  Michael says sorry, but never admits to anything and gets off.  Brilliant.

The owner was reportedly trying to sell the bong on eBay for $10, 000. Wow. $10, 000! Of course, the police going after these kids has been a huge point of controversy for everyone following the case because, c’mon, it’s a bit ridiculous.

According to an article in WIS News 10 in Columbia, SC:

Lott says the picture indicated a law was being broken in his jurisdiction. He said he couldn’t ignore the violation just because Phelps is rich and famous. We’ve now learned that since investigators began trying to build a case, they’ve made eight arrests: seven for drug possession and one for distribution. These are arrests that resulted as the sheriff’s department served search warrants. We’ve also learned that the department has located and confiscated that bong.

Wow. Well we’re sure the citizens of South Carolina are safer now because of these pot head college students have been arrested. In other news, Taco Bell has reported a loss in late night sales.

All was well after the apology…it seemed.  Then the backlash by parents started, saying he is a role model to children and the drug use shouldn’t go unnoticed.  So it all came down Thursday. Per Monsters and Critics:

“…the 8-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer has also been suspended for three months by USA Swimming.

The Kellogg co. put Phelps on boxes of its Frosted Flakes and Corn Flakes.  Now sponsor Kellogg says they will no longer be in business with Phelps. The Cereal and snack maker will not renew its sponsorhip contract with Olympic swimmer because he has confirmed he did smoke marijuana last fall.

The company released a statement Thursday that Phelps’s behavior is “not consistent with the image of Kellogg.”

Kellogg says its contract with Phelps expires at the end of the month.”

His three month ban from the swimming pool and competition will lose him sponsorship dollars those three months’ too.  Do you think his reality came crashing down?  I think so.  He got it.  Especially now because charges may be filed by the county where the pot smoking picture took place.  So much for a little college fun.

“If anyone knows public scrutiny, it’s me,” Beard said in a text message. “When I posed for Playboy, so many officials looked down on me. Michael knows he isn’t a bad person. He made a mistake. People need to get over it. I want to cheer him on in London.”

As reports by Post Chronicle:USA Swimming released the following statement:

USA Swimming has reprimanded Michael Phelps under its Code of Conduct by withdrawing financial support and the eligibility to compete for a period of three months effective today, Feb. 5, 2009.

This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero. Phelps has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and “has committed to earn back our trust.”

Seriously, damage is done, Phelps’ regretful and give the guy a break! We all make mistakes, yes, he was plain stupid knowing what he represents but aren’t we all humans? He’s only 23! I seriously hope he doesn’t forfeit the 2012 Olympics!

As reports by The Star: “I engaged in behaviour which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment,” he [Phelps] said in the statement released by one of his agents. “I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”

News of the World said the picture was taken during a November house party while Phelps was visiting the University of South Carolina. During that trip, he attended one of the school’s football games. While the newspaper did not specifically allege he was smoking pot, it did say the pipe is generally used for that purpose and anonymously quoted a partygoer who said the Olympic champion was “out of control from the moment he got there.”

The party occurred nearly three months after the Olympics while Phelps was taking a long break from training, and would have no impact on the eight golds he won at Beijing. He has never tested positive for banned substances.

His coach Bob Bowman issued a terse statement through Phelps’ agent. “He regrets his behaviour, and I’m sure he’ll learn from this experience,” he said. “I’m glad to have him back in training.”

The U.S. Olympic Committee said it was “disappointed in the behaviour recently exhibited by Michael Phelps,” who was selected the group’s sportsman of the year.

“Michael is a role model, and he is well aware of the responsibilities and accountability that come with setting a positive example for others, particularly young people,” the USOC said in a statement. “In this instance, regrettably, he failed to fulfill those responsibilities.”

Marijuana is viewed differently from performance-enhancing drugs, according to David Howman, director general of the World Anti-Doping Agency. An athlete is subject to sanctions only for a positive test during competition.

During the 1998 Nagano Olympics, Canadian snowboarder Ross Rebagliati was stripped of his gold medal in the giant slalom after testing positive for marijuana. The victory was reinstated because the sport’s governing body did not have a rule banning the substance.  

Seriously, he screwed up. While, some might say it’s no big deal, it’s only pot but Phelps’ a role model and there are lots of youngsters looking up to him. Well, surely he’s not going to do that again. It could cause him a lot of sponsorships.

“They pose the girl up next to me as I get out of the car, and she follows me in,” he explained. “I was like, ‘Oh wow, you guys are pretty original — pose somebody next to me to make it look like we’re together!’ She, like, follows me up the counter. I’ve never seen her before in my life!” he added. “They were following us all day in L.A., so it was just nuts.” via UsWeekly

You know, I don’t feel too much sympathy for the Brangelina/Aniston/Mayer/Speidi/Simpson/Hilton juggernaut. Those fame hungry celebutards looooooooove every last minute of this paparazzi absurdity. Michael Phelps, however, is not a press-happy performer. Just a simple man who likes to be one with the water and create art with his freestyle. 

I feel sorry for Michael Phelps. Do you?

I kid!  Michael did have a great fete this year!  He beat Mark Spitz’s record – thank God, that cocky thing needed to go down a peg – and won 8 gold medals in Beijing.  Sports Illustrated said this of Michael:

If Phelps’s dedication is a given in the long run-up to the 2012 Games, there is still some uncertainty about what events he will swim in London. Just as Tiger Woods has won the Masters with three different golf swings, Phelps feels compelled to tinker just to make sure he remains fully engaged. He and Bowman are in agreement that he will drop one race from his Beijing program — the 400 IM, even though Phelps set the world record. He will continue swimming the 200 freestyle and will add a new event, the 100 free.

How many medals can this kid win?  He’s unstoppable!

Anyway, the walking yawn of a singer had this to say about Tony Romo calling her and how she “didn’t pick up sometimes”

It was just something that was said in passing, and I would never mean to say anything to hurt anybody or to stir up anything, because I’m just not about drama. At all. I might be mad too if somebody said my boyfriend was calling some other girl. So I can definitely see where she [Jessica Simpson] would be coming from. But I haven’t talked to him since, like, May.”

And about how she reportedly dated Michael Phelps? Yeah, nobody wants to date poor Michael Phelps:

I swear on everything, on my job, on my house, my dog…That’s how serious I am. It’s all just a lie. Anytime any [media source] ever says ‘a friend said,’ or ‘a close’ whatever – no, they didn’t! It’s just made up. None of my friends would say anything. Ever. About anything!”

Radar Magazine happened to have a reporter in the Playboy Club in the Palms Resort doing another cover story when Phelps walked in.  He immediately went to the girls and started feeling them up.  The reported snapped a couple of pictures before Phelps’ ‘people’ knew what was going on.  It seems that Michael has a friend who keeps a flashlight handy just for that reason…to mess up people taking incriminating photos of Michael.  Oops.  The reporter got two. 

Does this change your perception of Michael?  Now it seems he is like every other athlete who lets fame go to their head and become sleazy.  Yuck.

Actually, Speedo paid the million dollar bonus to Phelps after he won 8 gold medals this year.   He begins the educational part of his foundation with an 8 city trip, where he will speak with kids and share his experiences with the Olympics according to the Wall Street Journal.  He will provide a message of encouragement and tell kids to reach for their dreams. 

I think he is a cool guy.  Too often young people get a bad rap in the media.  Here’s one who is obviously doing good, but his message and timing was over shadowed by a hurricane, a VP candidate announcement and two political conventions.  Too bad.
