Last week, it was push-ups with Ellen DeGeneres, now it’s hula-hoops, dodge ball, tug-of-war, and a potato sack race with Jimmy Fallon. Whew! Wonder how Michelle Obama gets all that energy to compete, and still win…because oh, yes…she won again…

This time around the playground was the White House, and Jimmy Fallon got all physical with the First Lady as she celebrated the second anniversary of her campaign against childhood obesity, “Let’s Move With Michelle Obama.”

Defeated, a panting Jimmy Fallon said:

“It doesn’t matter if you won or lost,”

to which the First Lady succinctly retorted:

“It matters.”

Talk about competitive! No wonder President Obama was attracted to her. Strong women really are sexy!

Michelle Obama has been making the rounds of the talk shows lately to promote her “Let’s Move” initiative. In the past few weeks she’s appeared on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” ”The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Rachael Ray.”

Sign us on! If we could be as fit as the First Lady, we’d take our show on national television, too!

Ellen challenged the First Lady, a well-known advocate for nutrition and healthy eating, and who launched the “Lets Move!” initiative to reverse the 21st century trend of childhood obesity, to a push-up contest right on the show. Suffice it to say, 48-year-old Michelle Obama bested the 54-year-old talk show host with the studio audience counting off the number of push-ups they performed…

“How many push-ups you can do? I’d like to do a push-up.”

Ellen asked Michelle Obama.

“You know…I don’t know,”

the First Lady replied.

“I can do some. Can you?”

Words upon which the gauntlet was thrown, resulting in the First Lady of the United States and the gay talk show host to hit the floor.

Ellen finally gave up on the 20th count, while Michelle Obama went on to do 25 to cheers and applause in the audience.

Of course, Ellen‘s older and has had a heart health scare last year, so we put our money on the younger, fitter Michelle Obama. Added to the fact that it wouldn’t have looked good on Ellen‘s resume to have bested a guest…the First Lady, no less…on her show.

Still…these are two women past their 40′s who can do 20-plus full-length push-ups in rapid succession. That’s something to think about. Can you?

Are they nuts? With all the other programs on the boob tube today, do they really think the president would be fine with his daughters watching reality TV?

Apparently, they do. The Kardashians were reportedly “surprised” when they read Michelle Obama’s interview, in which the First Lady said:

“Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians — when they [Sasha and Malia Obama] watch that stuff — he doesn’t like that as much.”

So why are they surprised? Well, aside from the fact that they think their show is the greatest thing to happen to modern television, Khloe was reportedly told by the president himself that he thought their show was “great.” TMZ reports:

“Obama personally told Khloe he thought “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” was a “great show” when they met last year.”

The Kardashians were definitely very shocked to learn that the president isn’t all that fond of their show after all. In fact, they believe that Obama’s got it wrong, and that his girls could benefit a lot from watching “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Why? Because it’s about girls in real-life situations, and they think Sasha and Malia could learn a thing or two from their experiences.

Really now.

First Lady Michelle Obama, who more or less has taken the reigns on what their daughters are exposed to in terms of television viewing, has revealed that the President himself has put his foot down about allowing Sasha, 10, and Malia, 13, to watch the Kardashians‘ reality show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians“…

First Lady Michelle says her husband has expressed disapproval of the Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Khloe Kardashian‘s antics on TV, and feels their girls shouldn’t be “keeping up with” them.

“Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians — when they watch that stuff — he doesn’t like that as much,”

she told current news.

“But I sort of feel like if we’re talking about it, and I’m more concerned with how they take it in — what did you learn when you watched that,”

the First Lady explained.

“And if they’re learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, then I’m like, okay.”

But given the portrayal of the Kardashian girls as big spenders, Michelle Obama doesn’t want Sasha and Malia to think they can live like “little princesses”.

And given the President‘s already facing the anti-corporate greed revolution of Occupy Wall Street, we don’t think The White House is going to be laying out the red carpet for the Kardashians anytime soon…unless they volunteer to subsidize the remaining 99% of the aggravated U.S. poor, that is…

Michelle stood on the beaches near the oil spill and decalred they were safe and everyone should be here. Then she hopped a plane and took her daughter to Spain!

“Both the President and Mrs. Obama have traveled to Florida’s Gulf Coast in recent weeks and they look for-ward to returning for the weekend,” according to an e-mail released by a White House official. The e-mail added that the first family’s visit is a “personal trip” and “no public events are planned.”

White House officials declined to comment further or to say exactly where the first family will be staying.

The visit could be another boon to local tourism officials, who have spent the summer combating the idea that oil has fouled local waters. Although oil from the Deepwater Horizon spill has hit Pensacola, Mississippi and Louisiana, Bay County has seen only scattered tar balls.

OK, so they are going in another week, after Michelle has her Spanish beach vacation. Michelle will have had something like 8 vacations this summer, in a country where foreclosures are high and the economy stinks. Do you agree with this?

More Peta news after the slip…

Peta says they shouldn’t be mad, but flattered. These women have said they won’t wear fur and Peta is congratulating them on their decision. But the White House argues they didn’t have permission to use images. From US Weekly:

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk insists her organization wouldn’t have sought Obama’s consent for the ad because it knows that she can’t make such an endorsement.

“The fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn’t wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA’s eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous,” she said in a press statement.

PETA senior vice president Dan Mathews added that Obama should be flattered. Introducing the campaign, he said: “By rejecting fur, these style icons demonstrate to the world that fur is old-fashioned and cruel.”

So, Peta can have the ad out there, get attention to it and still have their cause be recognized before posters will have to be taken down. Brilliant or stupid?

The Obamas are on a beach front home. So, there is water space out front that is restricted. The surfers weren’t too happy when the secret service kicked them out of the waves for a few yards.

The girls are playing with cousins or friends or someone on the lawn and look like normal kids. That is awesome! Secret service? Who cares! Merry Christmas Sasha and Malia!

“Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, Who are you as a person? Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul…. When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good…. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole.”

The First Lady’s own role models:

“They were the people in my life. My mom, for sure. My dad. The teachers. For me, role modeling was immediate, it was touchable…. Children connect with who is in their lives, present and accounted for…. That’s why we’re trying to encourage moms, teachers, fathers, to be that presence in their children’s lives, in their communities, because it really makes a difference.”

Michelle Obama and Anne Hathaway were two well-known ladies topping this year’s best-dressed list. Anne Hathaway seems to have been honing her style for quite a few years, while Michelle Obama only recently jumped onto the radar, but her placement on the list is certainly no surprise after all the fashion buzz she has created.

The rest of the list includes Penelope Cruz, Kelly Ripa, Renee Zellweger and Daniel Craig. Oh, and some guy named Brad Pitt.Do you think they all deserve kudos for clothes? Who else would you add to the infamous list?

According to the magazine, the couple paid $855, 323 in federal taxes and $77,883 in state taxes. Although the Obama‘s earned $26, 000 in returns, they applied the money to next year’s income taxes. The first family donated $172,050 to 37 charities, including $25,000 each to CARE, which fights global warming, and the United Negro College Fund.

On the flipside, Joe and Jill Biden are practically paupers, only raking in $270, 000 in 2008.

So, forget the protesters, the billions and trillions of dollars going down the economy toilet.  Let’s see what Michelle Obama wears to meet the Queen.  Even though the G-20 Summit continues, but the Obama’s were requested to meet with the Queen. No one refuses a Queen.  And they brought her and her husband Prince Phillip gifts.  From People Magazine:

An inscribed iPod fully accessorized and loaded with the “ultimate Broadway” collection of 40 tunes, including “People” by Barbra Streisand, “Aquarius” by Ronald Dyson and songs from a wide range of shows from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes to Rent and La Cage aux Folles.

Do you think the 82 year old gal will use it?  Most importantly, do you think the Queen can still even hear?  It sounds like a thoughtful, unique gift, but why didn’t they take her something American made?

The magazine’s editor at large, Andre Leon Talley, interviews Michelle and according to Newsday was blown away by how “natural, normal and accessible” she was. The two gabbed about all sorts of things, but also kept a loose focus on fashion since Michelle is so scrutinized by the press.

Michelle, who chose her own outfits for the photo shoot, said this about clothing:

I’m not going to pretend that I don’t care about it,” she said. “But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear – people just have different tastes.”

Mariah did perform at the Neighborhood ball for the Obama’s, but not the inauguration itself.  That was reserved for the Queen Diva, Aretha Franklin.  From the New York Post:

A spy said, “Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen was seated. But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Obama family. When she realized she wasn’t, she bailed.”

What a diva.  She actually left a president’s inauguration because she was with other stars.  How lowly.  Her and Beyonce should be let in a room together and they can duke it out for Queen diva.  Well, maybe Aretha Franklin too…we’d know who would win!

President Obama asked the crowd: “How good looking is my wife?”

“At Last” may have been just what President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama were thinking as they glided through their first inaugural dance to the Etta James classic.

The Neighborhood Ball is the first ball attended by the President and the First Lady. There were a total of 10 and now they must be completely exhausted!

Jay-Z got to witness his wife’s behavior and got involved.  This is what happened according to the Daily News:

After Jay-Z finished rehearsal for his pre-inaugural concert, he and wife Beyonce found out police had shut down streets around the Warner Theater. Cops told the star couple they’d have to walk four blocks to meet their driver.

“Beyoncé wouldn’t walk in high heels in the cold,” says our spy. “The cops wouldn’t budge, but the Secret Service agreed to let the driver pick Jay and Beyoncé up, bring them to their hotel so they could change, and get them back to the theater.”

Hmmmm.  Michelle Obama walked in high heels for more than four blocks and didn’t complain one bit!  Take that Beyonce. Suck it up and walk.  Or bring more sensible shoes for winter in Washington.

MIchelle Obama is highly regarded for her style, demeanor, and fashion sense. She’s frequent compared to Jacqueline Kennedy.

Michelle went to Princeton as an undergraduate student where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985 with a major in sociology and minor in African American studies. She obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School in 1988.

Michelle met Barack Obama when they were among very few African Americans at their law firm and she was assigned to mentor him while he was a summer associate. The couple married in October 1992 and they have two daughters together, Malia Ann Obama (born 1998) and Natasha Obama (born 2001).

I guess I need to be calling her the First Lady in a few days time instead of Michelle.. oops – I mean that’s if Barack Obama, her husband becomes the President of the United States.
