Michelle, who was engaged to award-winning actor Heath Ledger prior to his death, has reportedly been seeing “The Muppets” star Jason Segel since February.

A source tells Us Weekly:

“They are smitten and very serious. [Michelle] hasn’t been this happy in a long time.”

Last week, Michelle and Jason were photographed taking a romantic stroll in Brooklyn after enjoying dinner together at Frankie’s Spuntino. An eyewitness reveals:

“He put his arm around her and made her laugh as they walked… [They] seemed very relaxed.”

On Sunday, the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star was photographed spending time with Michelle’s daughter with Heath Ledger, Matilda.

Michelle and Jason have been friends for years thanks to their mutual friend Busy Philipps, who was Segel’s co-star in the short-lived “Freaks and Geeks” and Williams’ co-star in “Dawson’s Creek.”

Pretty strange pairing, right?

How weird is it to see funny man Seth Rogen, the star of hilarious movies like “Green Hornet” and “Knocked Up,” paired with dramatic actress Michelle Williams, who recently garnered a huge collection of awards and nominations for playing bombshell blonde Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn”?

Very weird, don’t you think?

But Seth isn’t the only guy we get to see Michelle with in this film, because the Oscar-nominated actress plays a married woman who also develops feelings for her neighbor, played by Canadian actor Luke Kirby.

Uh…is this like the time she said she wanted to quit acting just after she finished filming “Blue Valentine” last year? A role that won her an Academy Award nomination and about a dozen other acting award nominations, as well?

Now she’s gotten even more accolades for “My Week With Marilyn,” a Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress, a gazillion more minor acting trophies, and some serious Oscar buzz…and here she goes saying she wants to go away again…

“I just want to go back to being a mom for a while,”

Michelle told E! Entertainment.

Well, for crying out loud…isn’t she a mom already?

We think Michelle may just be running scared after having received all the kudos for her work.  That can freak some people out, you know.

So embrace success, Michelle Williams. Posthumous Oscar-winner Heath Ledger would have wanted you to.

Besides, it’s not everyday someone from “Dawson’s Creek” gets heaped with all those acting awards.

Yay or nay?

This kind of looks like the gown she wore last October at the Hollywood Film Awards Gala… so yeah, not a surprising look from Michelle.

The “My Week with Marilyn” actress walked the red carpet in a one-shoulder midnight blue Chanel gown with silver embellishments on the shoulder strap and along the bodice, and a thigh-high slit.

Frankly, it did nothing for Michelle’s voluptuously sexy figure, which she showed off in a recent Marilyn-themed photo shoot for GQ. It actually kind of looks blah on her, but maybe it’s because she completely lacks “red carpet presence”—a must for dresses like these.

The former “Dawson’s Creek” actress stripped down to her delightfully ’60s-inspired underwear and channeled the famous sex icon, Marilyn Monroe for her GQ celebrity photo shoot. Will we always be given glimpses of the character that won her her first Golden Globes Awards over the weekend?

“I think because my character on ‘Dawson’s Creek’ was sexy…sexualized…sexual…I saw all the negative attention and connotations that can come along with that,”

Michelle tells GQ Magazine about her erstwhile “Dawson” bad girl persona, Jen.

“And that those things can keep people from seeing you clearly.”

Was that the reason Michelle did a series of wholesome teen-oriented films (“Dick,” “But I’m A Cheerleader,” and “A Thousand Acres”) after “Dawson’s Creek” went off the air?

“It’s funny spending your twenties running away from it, and then you hit your thirties…wait a second! Come back! I want that time back when I didn’t appreciate what I had!”

Michelle admits.

“That kind of ripe sexuality, when you hit your thirties you feel more in possession of it, you feel it’s not something that can be sort of taken away from you and reassembled.”

And so followed films like “Brokeback Mountain,” “Deception,” and “Blue Valentine” that tipped the perception of her into more (nakedly) adult territory.

The “My Week With Marilyn” star graced the 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala with her new reddish ‘do, which brought out the warmth of her skin and the glints of gold in her limpid green eyes. Guess Michelle isn’t in character anymore, eh?

Michelle just nabbed a Golden Globes nomination for playing the iconic 1950′s and 60′s sex symbol, and admitted to a preparation time of nearly a year to assimilate the personality of the famous blonde. Now that the movie’s earned a whopping $2.06 million gross in the first five weeks of opening in the U.S., Michelle may have felt it was time to retire the character and move on with her career.

And we really love the way she’s moved on with her new hair color. How much are you betting women across America are lining up in front of salons with photos of Michelle Williams‘ new ‘do to copy?

Michelle clearly has good taste. The “My Week with Marilyn” star walked the red carpet in yet another fabulous outfit: an intricately beaded silk Miu Miu cocktail dress and bronze Prada cross-strap heels.

As for styling, Michelle debuted a darker blonde color on her usually short pixie ‘do and completed the look with impeccable makeup.

Michelle looks classy and elegant, albeit a bit boring.

Also, we love the gorgeous beaded top, but we really wish the skirt wasn’t wrinkled.

Michelle shocked everyone when she decided to cut her long locks for a super-short pixie ‘do, and she’s kept it short ever since, despite the fact that her daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger, doesn’t like it. The actress told British ELLE magazine:

“What Matilda would love is for her mom to grow out the cropped hair, though that’s unlikely to happen any time soon.”

So why does she keep it short? Michelle admitted:

“I cut it for the one straight man who has ever liked short hair and I wear it in memorial of somebody who really loved it.”

Obviously, Michelle is taking about her ex-boyfriend Heath, who died due to an accidental drug overdose back in 2008. But though she may have cut it for him, Michelle also revealed that she’s actually grown to love her short hair. She said:

“I’ve really grown into it. I feel like myself with short hair. And it’s been a really long time since I had long hair, five years.”

Michelle added:

“Of course, the only people who like it are gay men and my girlfriends… Straight men across the board are not into this hair!”

Except for Heath, of course.

Isn’t it sweet (and kind of heartbreaking) that Michelle keeps her hair short because Heath liked it that way?

Michelle wore a stunning midnight blue Nina Ricci gown, which featured a very short inner skirt and a sheer, floor-length outer skirt with a long, dramatic train. It also had gorgeous gold and blue embellishments along the bodice.

The “My Week with Marilyn” actress finished off the look with black ankle strap peep-toe pumps, silver eye makeup, and rosy lips.

So what do we think?

Well, honestly, the look is all wrong. The dress is beautiful and everything, but somehow it just doesn’t go with Michelle’s styling… and her personality.

This dress deserves flowing curls or a dramatic updo, some sparkly jewelry, and a “work it” attitude on the red carpet.

But the former “Dawson’s Creek” actress, who’ll be playing the iconic Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn” has different ideas on the matter:

“I often dream of quitting acting. Walking away and becoming a laundress or a sous chef or maybe writing other people’s love letters for a living,”

Michelle tells celebrity news.

“Clearly, I don’t like to be in charge. And thinking of quitting is just keeping going in disguise. When you have options, anything is bearable. It’s when a situation is inescapable that it becomes hell. It seems to me that as soon as you get good at something, it is a sure sign that it is about to walk out of your life because it ceases to hold your mind and creative energy hostage.”

Clearly, we are either in a huge state of depression or taking an insane amount of mind-altering drugs.

Or else this is just how a gifted thespian talks, enigmatically without any particular meaning that’s clear to anyone but themselves.

Still, whatever Michelle Williams is planning, we hope she plods on until she snags that Oscar. It’ll be a pity to have nothing to show to young Matilda once she’s segued her career over to slaving away over the vichyssoise at a three-star hotel, or managing the neighboring Laundromat.

Whether she looks it or not, celebrity news noted Oscar-nominated Michelle has put some work into becoming the blonde bombshell who believed “diamonds are a girl’s best friend.”

“I’d go to bed every night with a stack of books next to me,”

Michelle admitted.

“And I’d fall asleep to movies of her. It was like when you were a kid and you’d put a book under your pillow hoping you’d get it by osmosis.”

Will that help Michelle Williams get by on doing a credible representation of the incomparable Marilyn? For one, Williams doesn’t have Marilyn‘s more rotund body structure and soft facial contours. For another Monroe‘s 50′s glamour is a tough act to follow, given that there existed a hint of soulfulness in her eyes that hinted at inner vulnerability.

Let’s hope Michelle Williams has was it takes to living la vida Marilyn when the film finally sees theaters this October.

While Michelle was very quiet about the event, while promoting her new flick Blue Valentine she spoke optimistically about the time right after he died.

“In a strange way, I miss that year, because all those possibilities that existed then are gone…it was a year of very magical thinking, and in some ways I’m sad to be moving further and further away from it. I’ve found meanings around the circumstance, but the actual event itself still doesn’t…” she says before trailing off. “I can’t find a meaning for it. I can find meanings in things and people and relationships that have sprung up, and friendships that have strengthened. I can find a lot of meaning in that, but not in why.”

Oh, and in case you were wondering — Michelle denies any kind of romantic involvement with co-star Ryan Gosling.

Michelle was with Heath Ledger and they have a child together, but she has moved on.  That doesn’t mean she has forgotten Heath, but she’s moved on and letting his family deal with any potential awards he might win for his role as Joker in The Dark Knight movie this season.

TMZ says:

“No discussions have been made for Michelle to accept nor are there any plans to take part.”

These are the people supposedly in the running for picking up any award he may win:  Christian Bale, Christopher Nolan the director and Heath’s dad.  Who do you think should pick up the award if he wins?  The Oscars nominations will be announced soon – do you think Heath will be up for one of those?

Michelle went in to hiding before The Dark Knight premiered, saying she couldn’t be around all of the hype regarding Heath Ledger and his death.   Very understandable.  But she does seem to be making progress in her love life, as she was spotted kissing someone outside of her apartment in NY.

That someone is Spike Jonze, according to Celebitchy.  Spike is a director and the pair have known each other since 2006 when she tried out for a role in a movie he was directing.  A source says they look happy together, which is great.  Good luck!

Stories were flying yesterday that Michelle was arguing with Heath Ledger’s father about the handling of Matilda’s inheritance.  And since they were arguing, she was supposed to be skipping out on the Dark Knight premier next month.  In reality, she was never going in the first place!

Michelle issued a statement regarding the incident.  She says via US Magazine:

“The presumption that Michelle ever intended to attend The Dark Knight premiere is unfounded, but to say she is ‘boycotting’ due to a rift with Heath’s family is absurd.”

According to People Magazine, it was announced that the goal is to award one actor per year a shot to make it big in Hollywood.  How they do that remains to be answered, as some of the details are still sketchy.  Michelle Williams – the former girlfriend and baby mama to Heath Ledger – has approved the project and is helping to fund it.  This would be a great memorial to the late actor.
