Nate Silver, America’s math wizard has figured out who’s going to win the Oscars so you don’t need to watch it this Sunday to find out the results. Then again, it’s always fun to watch the Oscars. It will be aired this Sunday on ABC live. Nate’s predictions: Slumdog Millionaire wins big time: both Best Picture and Best Director. The 2009 Oscar nominations have arrived! There were some surprises in who was nominated and who was left out of the prestigious awards this year.  Some were especially surprising because they actually won at other award shows thus far this year!

Brad Pitt’s movie Benjamin Button has 13 nominations total, including Best Actor for Brad and Best Director for David Finchner.    Slumdog Millionaire also received 10 nominations, a surprise for a movie that garnered no buzz until the Golden Globes two weeks ago.
