Patrick Swayze has died. The 57 year old Patrick lost his battle with pancreas cancer Monday afternoon.

Patrick announced he had the illness in 2008. He put up a valiant fight, but succumbed to the aggressive cancer. From omg:

“Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,” said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were given.

Whoopi Goldberg says her friend and co-star Patrick Swayze is doing good. Patrick has been in a battle over pancreatic cancer and was seen looking very thin. Whoopi says he is kicking butt, despite those claims and wishes people would stop talking about it.

Whoopi and Patrick filmed the movie Ghost back in 1990 and remained friends since then.  Demi Moore also starred int he award winning flick.  Whoopi talks to the media about her friend via UPI:

Patrick Swayze was hospitalized yesterday for pneumonia. Patrick was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer last year and after undergoing chemotherapy has a weakened immune system. Patrick has publicly admitted he may not live more than two more years.

Regardless of his cancer-stricken state Patrick has been unbelievable professional on set of The Beast. Co-star Travis Fimmel said:

Some good news coming from Hollywood for once!  Patrick Swayze was caught over the weekend looking great!  He gave the thumbs up to paparazzi even.  Wow!

Patrick Swayze is responding well to treatment for pancreatic cancer, he told People magazine. Swayze, 55, who announced in March that he had been diagnosed with cancer, is receiving treatment at Stanford University Medical Center near San Francisco. Praise to the Lord!

“I am continuing treatment at Stanford and the great news is I continue to respond well,” Swayze said in a statement to the magazine.
The treatment evidently is not slowing him down too much. People said Swayze spent the holiday weekend taking in a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game and shopping for jewellery for his wife, Lisa, in Reno, Nev.

Patrick Swayze is undergoing an experimental treatment in a bid to beat pancreatic cancer, according to reports. Swayze is trying out revolutionary new surgical tool the CyberKnife.

According to National Enquirer – which broke news of Swayze’s cancer plight – the CyberKnife delivers high doses of radiation to pinpoint precision, without damaging surrounding tissue. It’s hoped the treatment – taking place at Stanford University’s Cancer Center in California – will stop the cancer growing, or shrink the pancreas so it can be removed.
