Katy may have lost out to Grammys big winner Adele in both the categories she was nominated for, but she definitely shined that night thanks to her amazing, angst-ridden performance, which she used to kill two birds with one stone: she got to debut a new song and send a message to her ex, Russell Brand.

Katy’s new song, “Part of Me,” was obviously aimed at her former husband. Check out the lyrics:

“Days like this I want to drive away

Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade

‘Cause you chewed me up and spit me out

Like I was poison in your mouth

You took my light, you drained me down

That was then and this is now

Now look at me”

The song is great and Katy‘s Grammy performance was perfect, but honestly, it seems a bit immature of her to slam Russell like that (if that was really her intention)… especially since he’s been such a gentleman all throughout their divorce proceedings.

The comic, 36, who recently finalized his divorce from estranged pop star wife, Katy Perry, sparked fears about his health among the audience when he suddenly announced he was feeling awful in the middle of a spiel. Did the blinding headache he experienced have anything to do with the stress of his separation from Katy?

“I have a terrible pain. I need pain killers. Sorry about this.”

Brand, 36, told his shocked audience at the sold-out ComedySportz Theatre in Hollywood.

“I feel nauseous now. I feel sick.”

Still, despite the pounding in his head, he tried to make light of the situation, finding something to laugh about in the midst of his pain.

“I think I’m such a professional showman this is beyond ridiculous stopping to take medication.”

Apparently, Russell‘s health woes, which date back to his drug-addled past,  have come back in full force ever since he announced he was filing for divorce from his wife of 14 months, 27-year-old Katy.

And who wouldn’t feel awful, having to be forced to walk away from a $20 million divorce settlement because he’s a hard-headed son of a gun because he respects her too much?

Oh, and because they never actually had time to kick one up.

Since there was no prenup between Russell and Katy, the community property law takes effect, which means everything they both earned while they were married will be divided 50/50. And since Katy earned more than Russell did, she stands to lose more.

But, as previously reported, Russell has refused to take the $20 million (of Katy’s hard-earned money) that he is entitled to in their divorce. And, according to sources, both he and Katy have no regrets about not signing a prenup.

TMZ reports:

“Katy and Russell‘s marriage happened so fast, they never really had the opportunity to summon their lawyers and hash out a prenup … nor did either really believe they needed one.”

The site continues:

“…both felt comfortable one wouldn’t screw the other in the event of a divorce — they both knew where the other person stood on money, life, religion … everything.”

Also, according to TMZ’s source:

“Russell is a very simple person who doesn’t need much to make him happy. He would never take money that [Katy] earned. That’s not Russell. And if it was the other way around, Katy wouldn’t have taken it either. They respect each other too much.”

Wow. What an amicable divorce… who knew that could happen in Hollywood?

Russell, whose divorce from pop superstar wife Katy Perry was announced just before New Year’s Eve following a string of breakup rumors over the holidays, reportedly stands to take home over $20 million dollars of Perry’s money… thanks to the fact that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement.

In the absence of a prenup, everything the couple earns during the time they were married is to be summed up and divided equally… and since Katy earned around $44 million from May 2010 to May 2011, Russell is entitled to half of everything she made… which means he stands to rake in quite a fortune.

But here’s the thing… Russell has no plans of taking even a single cent from Katy. He’s more than happy to take home whatever he earned while they were married and let Katy have all of her hard-earned millions.

Wasn’t that gentlemanly of him? A source tells TMZ:

“This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person).”

Say what you want about Russell Brand, but we think this proves that he’s a pretty stand-up guy…

If this piece of news is true, it looks like the English comedian likes a certain type…either that, or he wants his soon-to-be-ex-wife to know she’s not the only blue-eyed brunette that rocks his world.

Why Russell would allegedly target someone who looks almost exactly like his estranged wife, one can only guess. Especially as Zooey, who’s recently filed for divorced from her musician husband, Ben Gibbard around the same time Russell filed for divorce from Katy, happens to be a singer too!

“Russell has had his eye on Zooey for a long time. And he’s been sending funny, flirty texts to see if they can get together.”

A source told OK! Magazine.

“He thinks she’s hysterically funny and cute, too. He loves her quirky sense of humor, and thinks they’d be great together both on-and off-screen. There’s a real spark there.”

The tabloid says the “New Girl” star is intrigued by Brand‘s interest (Who wouldn’t be?).

“But she’s heard about his reputation as a womanizer, and isn’t sure whether she’s ready to rush into another relationship so quickly.”

So is Zooey Deschanel going to see where a relationship with Russell Brand will lead her? Especially as she’ll always be compared to his soon-to-be-ex-wife?

Now that Russell Brand has been seen out and about with his virtual harem of beautiful ladies night after night…and has allegedly been trash-talking Katy to them, to boot…a devastated Katy looked for someone to turn to for solace, and reportedly fell right into the arms of one of her hunky backup dancers, Malik Le Nost…

Exactly. There’s not much we know about Malik Le Nost except that he’s currently working at Katy Perry‘s “California Dreams” world tour, and he has the most beautiful skin.

“During the tour last year, Katy became extremely close to her band and ­backing dancers,”

a source told the London Mirror.

“They all lived in each other’s pockets and ­everyone knew how much Katy was suffering – not least of all Malik.”

“Throughout her trip to ­Jakarta and Manila, Katy spent a lot of time with him and the pair would often stay up late into the night chatting and ­drinking in the hotel bar of The Ritz-Carlton.”

“When they were dancing on stage together, it was clear she only had eyes for him.”

Hmmm…bitter much?

Looks like Russell has left a lot of things unsaid before filing for divorce, and is making up for lost time by bad-mouthing Katy in front of the bevy of beauties he’s been seen with night after night. Didn’t these two meet for some last ditch talks to save their marriage? Looks like the dialogue may have turned ugly because Brand is certainly turning on the vitriol…

“She discovered through her friends,”

a source revealed to US Weekly.

“One of the women told a friend of hers and it got back to Katy.”

And here we thought Russell Brand was the kind of English gentleman who’d think to leave well enough alone…he filed the divorce papers, after all.

“He’s spoken terribly about Katy to them,”

the source continued, saying Russell has singled out a particular female from his string of ladies with whom he’d expressed the desire to “explore a relationship” with.

“[Russell] told her he wanted her to move in with him after the divorce is final.”

We think Russell Brand may be hurting very badly and reacting to that hurt in the wrong way, and Katy Perry‘s been keeping her mouth shut all this while in the face of rumor and speculation.

Nothing says “we’re over” like clicking that “Unfollow” button, huh?

So you know how after a breakup, most girls cope by getting a haircut or a new hair color… and then by “unfriending” or “unfollowing” their former significant others on all their social networking accounts? Well, Katy seems to be following that same exact pattern.

After dyeing her hair blue (which probably has nothing to do with the divorce, but with her new Adidas commercial), Katy then unfollowed Russell on Twitter.

A source tells Us Weekly:

“She’s limiting those interactions… He’s being so atrocious that she feels like she never really knew him.”

The source adds:

“She doesn’t want to look battered and have people for sorry for her… She’s very strong and confident.”

Brand is in L.A. right now to meet with Katy to discuss their separation and finalize the impending divorce. Sources say Katy‘s made this meeting an opportunity to have some last ditch talks with her estranged husband in a bid to save their marriage. But the main reason Katy wants Russell back, Hollywood rumors argue, is because she’s hell bent on pissing off her pastor parents who’d prefer her to date someone with a little bit more religion…

“The 36-year-old will have an emotional showdown with Katy, 27, to discuss their separation and finalise the impending divorce.”

A source tells the UK Daily Mail.

“The “Firework” singer claims that she wants to fight to save her 14-month marriage and desperately wants to get back together with the long haired funnyman. Perry is not ready to start dating any other men and has not been influenced by her Christian parents, Mary and Keith Perry, who are keen to see her date someone more religious.”

Is Katy incensed over her folks trying to get her together with Tim Tebow? Especially after they went as far as inviting the bible-toting Denver Broncos starting quarterback to their congregation gathering at Huntington Beach, California, and declaring that Katy‘s impending divorce was a gift from God?

So is Katy just trying to get back at her parents for interfering in her life? You be the judge…

Russell flew in from Britain recently to meet with Katy and their lawyers to discuss the details of their separation. It seems like Russell Brand is eager to move on and get on with his life, but Katy‘s still hoping they can talk out a reconciliation. Well, hey…she’s dealing with a cold Brit here. Do you think she’s ready to grovel on her knees to get back with him?

Pragmatic as the rest of his people, Brand‘s U.S. visit has a two-fold purpose: he’s also attending the Golden Globes. After allegedly being “uninvited” from the People’s Choice Awards, which Katy ended up not attending anyway, the stand-up comedian isn’t going to take any chances of being “struck off” the attendees’ list again.

“He has agreed to meet her one last time. He wants to sort things out and finalise the divorce. Removal trucks have been moving his things out of the house they lived in and into a new place that Russell is renting,”

a friend revealed to the Sunday Mirror.

“He needed to be in Los Angeles for the Golden Globes too, so it was an ideal opportunity to meet. He is determined to move on. But Katy says she is still in love with him and she still has hopes they might get back together.”

Katy meanwhile is allegedly being comforted and advised by her pastor parents.

“Keith and Mary flew from Georgia to Los Angeles earlier this week to be with their daughter. She is doing OK under the circumstances, but this has been a very tough road for her.”

That, and they’re trying to get her to go out with Denver Broncos starting quarterback and fellow Christian, Tim Tebow. Is that why Katy‘s desperate to get back with her estranged husband? To get her parents off her back?

Just a few hours before tweeting her in-absentia congratulations to the winners of the People’s Choice Awards, an event she was supposed to attend but begged off from, Katy was spotted by a fan wearing full make-up, a star spangled Adidas track suit, and blue hair while leaving the set of a commercial for the sportswear company in Santa Barbara…

Katy, whose mood was anything but blue, graciously agreed to pose for a photo with the fan, Eric Berlanger.

“It was great to see her, I have met her a couple times before and I am a big fan! She was great, really nice, she seemed happy.”

Eric told The Sun.

“She was in a van and saw me. I waved and she made the driver of the van stop and she lowered the window and I went up to her and she put out her hand and said: ‘Hey its good to see you again!’”

Eric requested to have a photo taken with the “Firework” singer and she readily acquiesed.

“I said the same and then I asked if I could take a picture with her and she said yes and got out of the van and gave me a hug and told me I smell good then we took the two pictures.”

Good for you, Eric. You’re probably about the first person to have had his photo taken with Katy Perry since December 30. You can auction your encounter over eBay, too. Seriously.

Wait…what? How did this happen? Isn’t it too early for Katy to start thinking of other men to date so soon after soon-to-be-ex-husband, Russell Brand announced he was filing for divorce a little less than two weeks ago?

Well, sure…but not if her parents are gunning for these two to hook up…

Of course, there’s still the fact that Katy kissed a girl and liked it (as well as that itty-bitty nuisance about a pending divorce), but maybe we’ll be seeing Tim Tebow Tebow-ing the whole situation up to Divine Providence to see if the stats will read John 3:16, just like the record he set in his overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday…

A few days after Russell Brand filed for divorce and announced that he and Katy were ending their 14-month marriage, celebrity gossip websites found out that Katy was still going to make an appearance at the People’s Choice Awards this month despite the split.

However, just an hour ago, Katy reneged on the her promise to attend the event and announced that she was no longer going via Twitter:

“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS”

We understand that plans change, and of course in Katy‘s case it’s understandable to want to shy away from the public for a while. But if the cancellation had anything to do with the split, why did she confirm that she was going in the first place?

Russell Brand suddenly announced their divorce on December 30, following the Christmas holidays which they both spent apart from each other. The shock of the announcement came on the heels of Brand telling the whole world on the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that he was happily married to Katy “until death do us part.”

Rumors and speculations immediately appeared on celebrity gossip websites, and Katy has finally put her foot down and decided to say her piece…

“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, “close sources” or my family.”

Katy said without much ado on her Twitter account.

“I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again.”

Which looks to be the only two things she’s willing to admit as to this point.

Will she reveal anything else noteworthy or any details about how the split came about?

Keith and Mary Hudson, who are pastors at their own church, are grateful that Katy‘s about to be divorced from her husband because apparently, it resulted in the spike in attendance of their congregation… and a full collection plate, more likely.

And so it was that the Pastors Hudson spoke before an unusually packed house, giving praise to God for their daughters soon-to-be-ex-husband having torn their union asunder…because it helped them fill churches. So praise be!

“I’m sure that Katy‘s trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight.”

Mary Hudson told the packed Church on the Rise congregation in Westlake, Ohio.

“I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.”

Keith Hudson put his two cents’ in, as well.

“What has taken place in my daughter’s life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. God has given us a platform to go in and meet people — and they like us because we are cool. We are not threatening.”

In fact, the pastors made sure they were so non-threatening they played a video of them posing at awards shows with their daughter Katy before taking to the stage and talking about their gratefulness to God for the divorce for a full 90 minutes.

‘I love my daughter and I will always love her. Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children.”

Keith said, choking back his tears as he addressed the morbidly curious crowd.

“Just because they do not like what you do or what you are, they are still praying that you stay in the race. They are counting on you. I believe in God, for every one of my children.”

Apparently, theirs is a God who fully endorses divorce, especially if it fills up their church…and the church’s coffers, as well…

While the “Firework” singer has no plans of avoiding people, cameras and speculations during this annual awards event, producers and organizers have effectively “disinvited” her ex, English stand-up comedian Russell, to prevent any awkward and embarrassing situations that are expected to occur between the former couple at the celebrity-heavy affair…

“It will be Katy’s big night, a prelude to the Grammys, and now Russell has been strangely left off the list of attendees for the high-profile event,”

a source told the London Mirror.

“It was always going to be awkward for organizers in any case after their shock decision to split. But in order to avoid any awkwardness or confrontation Russ is no longer on the list.”

And Katy‘s got a lot of incentive to attend the Awards. Her California Dreams tour was a sellout. She also tied Michael Jackson by scoring five No. 1 singles from the same album on the charts, making last year, and perhaps even this year, the most successful period of her career.

And what has Russell Brand been up to lately? Right. Nothing much, really. Ouch.

Katy‘s due to attend the annual Grammy Awards next month, as well, where her single “Firework” has been nominated to win a host of golden gramophones.

Kind of painful being the lesser earning and slightly less popular spouse, isnt’ it?

Estranged husband, Russell Brand may have announced their divorce Friday, but Katy Perry isn’t one to shy away from Hollywood news, even if it bombards her no end with speculations about why the split happened after only 14 months of marriage…

And while she may have scheduled some time off with BFF Rihanna to “clear her head,” she’s going ahead and making the most of the hot streak she’s had for most of 2011.

So watch out for the “Teenage Dream” pop star’s confirmed appearance at the People’s Choice Awards on January 11. After all, she’ll need all that publicity to drum up more favorable notice for “Firework,” which just got nominated for a Grammy, and may very well win her her very first golden gramophone come February.

And who knows, in the years to come, she may very well wax eloquent about Russell Brand as “the one that got away”…

Apparently, when funnyman Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry, his wife of 14 months, it wasn’t just their fans whose mouths dropped open in shock. A source close to the now-estranged couple tells PEOPLE:

“I was really surprised that Russell filed for divorce so quickly – especially at Christmas time.”

The source adds:

“I thought they would be together for a long time. Maybe not forever – but definitely not just 14 months.”

Hey, it’s longer than most Hollywood marriages. Isn’t that right, Kim Kardashian?

Okay, enough with the queen of short marriages.

Why was Katy and Russell’s split such a surprise? The source explains:

“They were always laughing.. They were very affectionate, always holding hands. They seemed like they were really in love.”

A second source shares:

“[Katy and Russell] took marriage very seriously… These aren’t people who give up,” the second source says. “I always thought they would work on their marriage if they had trouble.”

Katy and Rihanna have been friends for several years, and it was to the Barbadian singer Katy turned to lean on when husband of 14 months, English stand-up comedian, Russell Brand filed for divorce last week due to “irreconcilable differences.”

Looks like Rihanna won’t be lonely anymore now she has someone to commiserate with about the lack of men in her life…

RiRi and Katy texted each other non-stop during the full week rumors swirled around about the Katy Perry – Russell Brand marriage troubles, and when Russell announced he was filing for divorce, Rihanna lent her “shoulder” for Katy to cry on…several thousand miles away from Miami to L.A., but hey…it’s the thought that counts.

In fact, both singers have cleared their schedules for this month because…

“Rihanna has been there for Katy, texting her from Miami where she’s on holiday. Now they are planning a girlie getaway so Katy can clear her head.”

According to reports, the cause of the split had to do with Katy refusing to have children at this point in her red, hot career…children that Russell Brand wanted desperately.

“Katy is absolutely devastated, but the rows over starting a family had just come to a head. Yes she had agreed to take a year out to focus on children, but she realised the timing was all wrong.”

The source continued.

“She is too young and does not want to put her music on the back burner while she is on top of her game.”

Oh, well. At least Katy still has BFF Rihanna to rely on. That and her nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for her chart-topper “Firework” in next month’s Grammy Awards.

“I’m very excited as they’re nominating Firework, which is important to me. I feel I’m doing something right.”

Katy reportedly looked happy and carefree as she partied on New Year’s Eve with some friends at Soho House in West Hollywood. Considering the fact that her husband had just filed for divorce the day before, shouldn’t she be acting a bit more somber?

Well, that’s Katy for you. The singer, whose hard partying ways reportedly contributed to her marriage’s decline, did not let the fact that she was getting a divorce stop her from partying her butt off on Saturday. An eyewitness tells Page Six:

“Katy was in a private room with a group and she seemed to be in a great mood. She spent most of the night dancing and laughing with friends.”

The source added:

“One wouldn’t have ever even known that her husband had just filed for divorce. At one point, she was talking to a guy with long hair down to his shoulders in the hallway. They were talking for a while. She was smiling and leaning up against wall.”

Flirting with a new guy already?

“After midnight Katy and a male friend got on the dance floor, twirling each other around and dancing holding hands. She looked like she was having a great time.”

Meanwhile, Katy’s estranged husband Russell Brand rang in 2012 at the Savoy Hotel in London with some friends, including indie pop singer Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine.
