Blake has been in Gossip Girl and a few movies. Does she have what it takes to headline a giant movie franchise like this?

But instead of more ’80s flashbacks, the film will feature an entirely new group of stylish, single girls to embody the earlier versions of our beloved Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha. While production is still solely in talks, writer-director-producer Michael Patrick King reportedly has his eye on “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively to play the signature fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker made into a female icon.

“The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and exploring Carrie’s first few months in NYC and the beginning of her relationship with an older man,” an insider told the mag.

Sounds interesting. If Blake could play the lead, what actresses should play Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte? Throw out some names here…

The fashion-forward actress turned heads — including her castmates’ — at the London premiere of ‘Sex and the City 2′ Thursday with an extravagant hat by Philip Treacy and a matching gown by late designer Alexander McQueen.

“He made the dress for me two years ago,” she said of McQueen, who died in February. “I wouldn’t have worn anything else. I wore it as an emotional tribute to him. Lee, this is for you. I miss you very much.”

The first SATC the movie was a huge box office hitter and I think SATC 2 will do very well. SATC 2 hits theaters nationwide this Thursday, May 27th, it’s two and a half hours of at least high fashion and a great laugh if nothing else.

“It’s been amazing but complicated because of my current work schedule, which I have enormous regrets about,” the actress, 44, tells the January issue of Glamour. “One would prefer to be held 24 hours a day, and the other is already suffering from type A issues…It is the eternal conflict of every working woman. I’ve done this to myself. And I have a wonderful, wonderful nanny who allows me to be a working person. The great challenge for me is to be all things to all people; I want to be a great mother, and I want to feel good when I’m at work. But it is hard.”

On a lighter note, SJP assures us the SATC sequal is fun and more “light” then the first.

Leaked story lines suggest that Miley will bump into Samantha Jones played by Kim Cattrall who end up wearing the exact same dress as the 16-year old superstar in an attempt to look “young and hot”. According to on-set rumors, Anthony Marentino (played by Mario Cantone) then starts to cry, “Mother of God! She’s wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana!” The scene is scheduled to be filmed on October 16, 2009. – via Examiner

So who do you think wear the outfit best? Miley or Kim? I think Miley looks too much older than her real age in this dress.

According to usmagazine.com, the name of the movie is “Heart of the Dessert.” Nice. Sounds Oscar-worthy. Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Noth and Charlotte’s gay, Mario Cantone, also appear.

So, last movie we got Jennifer Hudson playing a bright-eyed young writers, Miley is (probably) playing a character cut from Jones-ian cloth. Interesting. The magazine also reprots that Penelope Cruz has a part in the movie as does Tim Gunn and Liza Minnelli.

“Hordes of fans began bombarding the set as early as 7 a.m. on the first day of shooting…They looked more like they were protecting the President than Sarah Jessica Parker,” said an onlooker at 84th St. and Park Ave., where the leggy leading lady was repeatedly being filmed hailing a cab. “At one point, teenage girls were practically trampling each other trying to get to Sarah Jessica as she was walking back to her trailer, but her security team was shoving everyone out of the way.”

Now that is just ridiculous. Are we going to read about Sex and the City casualties next?

Katie was trying her hand at acting and took some lessons. It must not have been enough. From Comedy Central:

However, the 32-year-old glamour model failed to make even the final 20, because, according to various sources she was too old and her boobs didn’t look real.

Katie was allegedly competing against 70 other hopefuls for the role but a source revealed to the Daily Mirror newspaper that “Jordan was never going to be able to play that part. She’s deluded. Jordan is none of those things. She may have the big boobs, but they don’t look natural.”

I guess the truth hurts some times. But has anyone ever accused Katie of trying to look real? From the tiaras to the fake eyelashes to all the sequins, normal and real certainly aren’t the first two words to come to mind. Better luck next time Katie!

Katie, 31 is allegedly desperate to improve her acting skills to be in with a chance of joining Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte for the next part in the SATC phenomenon.

She has even had a screen test for the role, which could see her land a character not too far from her alter-ego Jordan.

Price has stated: “Recently I went to LA where I was doing my acting lessons for Sex and the City Part 2. They want a big-breasted English glamour girl and I have had the audition.”

OK, I’ll say it because you’re all thinking it. Why would Katie need acting lessons for that? She’s got that role down pat!

However, producers are reportedly eager to cast the 35-year-old fashionista alongside the film’s four main females in the next movie.

“She really wanted to be in the last movie but wasn’t able to take part because of her commitments with the Spice Girls,” a source said. “This time she’s keen to take part.”

Rumor has it Victoria is also enrolled in acting classes and hopes it will help beef up any role she is offered. I bet she would do a fine job, since she can act on stage and sing.

It seems that Sarah Jessica Parker is a fan of Britney’s.  According to MTV sites, she is the major proponent for getting the songstress linked to the next movie:

It is reported that Sarah Jessica Parker is keen to cast Britney Spears in the next Sex And The City movie.

The SATC actress thinks the Womanizer singer would be perfect in the eagerly anticipated sequel to last year’s hit film, says Heat magazine.

It seems Britney who made her cameo on US TV show How I Met Your Mother last year would play a young relative of SJP‘s character Carrie Bradshaw.

Sarah Jessica told friends: “My idea is to have someone like Britney Spears move to New York as my cousin or niece and Carrie would show her the ropes.”

I’ve been noodling the idea around, but I just can’t see Britney in the role.  Can you?  I mean, Jennifer Hudson did a fine job in the first movie, but she’s been heavily awarded for her acting abilities.  Britney has not.  Do you think Britney in the SATC sequel is a good idea?

Anyway, we weren’t treated to anymore details of the script other than how Cattrall is thrilled Samantha is single because she has “way too much fun” (amen!) and how Cynthia Nixon would love for the four ladies to go on a “wild mad cap adventure.” 

As long as Patricia Field is dressing them, Samantha is carousing, Charlotte keeps her pie hole shut, and we aren’t tortured with anymore Carrie/Big storylines, I’m there!

Candace Bushnell is working on a pair of young adult novels that chronicle a teenage Carrie pre- Sex, and thinks Miley would make the perfect little future columnist. According to Bushnell, Carrie in high school:

 “…did not follow the crowd—she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene.”

This is a terrible idea. Miley Cyrus? She barely resembles Sarah Jessica Parker. Why not hold a casting call and give a nice, large-nosed girl from Nowheresville, USA a shot? Why must they turn this into an extended Disney-fied mess? What’s next—Zac Efron as young Mr. Big? Cameos by Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez?

This is going straight to DVD. I can feel it.

FRIENDS is said to be ready for a big screen movie according to The Mail.  WTH?  Couldn’t they leave well enough alone when it ended?  Can’t they all find other jobs to ….oh, that’s right.  They can’t, can they?  I mean, Jennifer is and always will be looked at as Rachel who can’t find love.   And let’s face it, Courteney is always looked at as neurotic Monica, even when I see her with her real child, Coco.  Maybe a movie is best for them…

Friends cast reunited! Coming to big screen

Perez says Kristin’s reps have not confirmed or denied that she had some veins covered up on her legs.  Cynthia’s reps have denied and claim the reports she had a boob job are false.  I guess pictures in a few weeks will tell us, huh?  Both actresses supposedly checked in on the same day, when there were few patients and hardly anyone to ‘see’ them going in.

Yesterday she was diplomatic about why New York lost out, explaining: “This is where New Line Cinema decided to do it, so we started here. We are thrilled to be in London and we will be thrilled to take it to America.”

Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda in the film, tried to placate American fans by implying last night’s London premiere was not the main event.

She said: “We’re having a kind of smallish premiere here; we’re having a smallish premiere in Berlin.

“We’re building to the New York premiere which is enormous and happens just before the film opens worldwide.”
