Shania took a painful—and undoubtedly embarrassing—spill after she was introduced and called onstage by Kid Rock to present the Male Video of the Year award. The singer hit a particularly slippery spot on the recently waxed floor while she tottered on in her high heels, which caused her to slip and fall HARD on her butt. But she was up again in seconds, and approached the stage to deafening cheers and applause.

Shania took to Twitter after the incident and said:

“I just made a complete fool of myself and experienced one of life’s most embarrassing moments… I don’t need a stunt double.”

She added:

“I didn’t hurt myself. I have a bit of a sore thumb — that’s it.”

Naturally, the recently married singer blames the embarrassing wipeout on her high heeled shoes:

“I’m gonna auction off those shoes. I’m gonna get rid of them as soon as I can. I never want to see those shoes again!”

In 2008, after learning her husband of 14 years Robert “Mutt” Lange was filing for divorce, she found out the next day that he was sleeping with a woman she thought was her closest confidante, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. Shania says:

“I just didn’t want to live, I lost my will to live. So much of my life was rolled up with into Mutt, our lives were intertwined in every respect and I was completely shocked.”

Shania even emailed Thiebaud, saying:

“Why are you torturing me? Let it go, please. ..find love somewhere else from someone else…this is killing me.”

However, Twain, 45, said that this incident in her life made her stronger and gave her a wake-up call. In a surprising twist, she later fell in love with Frederic Thiebaud, Anne-Marie’s ex-husband. They got married in Puerto Rico early this year.

Shania Twain is also releasing a new memoir of her experiences From This Moment On, and stars on OWN network’s new docu-series Why Not? which premiered May 8, Sunday.

Shania, the 45-year-old Canadian country-pop singer and her Swiss businessman fiance, Frédéric Thiébaud, wed in an intimate ceremony in Rincon, Puerto Rico on Saturday.

Let’s a twist to their relationship. Shania’s husband of 14 years, producer, Robert “Mutt” Lange left her for her ex-BFF, Marie-Ann Thiebaud who’s happens to be Frédéric Thiébaud’s ex-wife. In the wake of their painful separations, the couple reached out to each other and eventually fell in love. It’s a happy ending!

Some background info: Frederic Thiebaud is the ex-husband of Shania‘s former best friend, Marie-Ann Thiebaud. Marie-Ann and Shania had a famous falling out after, oh, Marie-Ann stole her husband Robert Lange back in 2008. Yeah – awkward.

Shania then got even with Frederic and it looks like doing the ultimate reality version of Wife Swap worked out for both parties. Shania‘s friends say:

“I’ve never seen Shania so happy…she has ended up with the love of her life.” Shania seconds this writing on her personal website: “a dear friend and true gentleman…We leaned on one another through the ups and downs, taking turns holding each other up. We’ve become stronger and closer through it all.”

Odd, huh? Switching husbands with my friend is something I’d be a bit embarrassed about, but to each their own.

Shania did a guest spot on American Idol once, didn’t she? OK, twice.

“They’ve been after her ever since she was a mentor on the show last season,” a source told People.com yesterday. “And they haven’t given up.”

Shania, you may remember, stepped in for the Chicago auditions last season and won the hearts of many of the “Idol” types. She also mentored the contestants in April.

“Shania’s a huge fan of the show,and she had a great time as a mentor,” the source told People.com.

That’s funny – a Canadian as a judge on American Idol. Since Shania’s been around the show before, I guess producers don’t care where she came from. Do you think she’d make a great permanent judge?

Shania has been working on a new album, which would probably release late this fall or winter. What a better way to get some publicity – well, besides your husband having an affair with your assistant – than be an AI judge? From People Magazine:

PEOPLE confirms that the country superstar will take a seat next to Simon Cowell as a guest judge at upcoming American Idol auditions.

Twain will fill Paula Abdul’s vacant spot on the judging panel in Chicago on Aug. 30-31.

The split was rumored to be because of an affair between her husband Robert Mutt Lange and a friend who ran one of their estates.  Both parties denied an affair, but Shania’s blog seems to say otherwise.  This is what she said:

To my beloved fans:

As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time
personally in my life. I wanted you all to know that I could not be
getting through this without you. Your letters, emails and words of
encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to
smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the
beautiful blessings in my life.

I have so much to say but I know the best way for me to speak is through my
music. This is my therapy, my passion, and my love. I look forward to
sharing it with all of you as I begin this new journey.

I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be
back and hopefully stronger than ever.

I do think that when people stray, they must be a thousand reasons..in this case he didn’t run off with a woman for her looks. Anyone?
