GLAAD is mad at Sherri Shepherd! One a recent show of The View, Sherri was talking with DL Hughley and they made a comment about the HIV growth amongst black people…which GLAAD claims in untrue.

You don’t want to make the people of GLAAD mad! Other co-hosts from Sherri’s show The View have been given awards by GLAAD - Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters.

During the June 22 episode of the daytime talk show, cohost Sherri Shepherd and guest host, comedian D.L. Hughley, blamed increased HIV rates among straight African American women on black men who are secretly gay, AKA “on the down low.”

“When you look at the prevalence of HIV in the African American community, it’s primarily young women who are getting it from men who are on the down low,” Hughley said.

Shepherd added, “It’s so big in the black community with women because they’re having sex with men who have been having sex with men.”

Oh boy. But, if someone is going to know what’s going on in the black community, Sherri is a good one to know. Do you think GLAAD is over reacting trying to prevent the bad PR from spreading? Is Sherri right?

Sherri Shepherd did an interview for Precious Magazine this summer. And maybe she shouldn’t have because some of the details are a little bit more than what we really needed to know.

The View co-host admits that she was depressed and had low self-esteem earlier in her life. She slept with a lot of men. She also says via I’m Not Obsessed:

“I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count. I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn’t even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference.”

Wow. What do you think the girls on The View will say about that? These co-hosts seem to be making more news than they are reporting this summer. Elisabeth and Whoopi fighting over the use of the N word, Barbara and her steamy book that admits an affair…what can Joy do to top these?

There’s another storm hitting the airwaves of ABC and The View. Even though they deny it, there’s tension on the set of the morning women’s gabfest.

Barbara Walters has a book out called Audition – which is her memoir. Joy Behar – a co-host – had a book out and wasn’t allowed to talk about it much. Sherri Shepherd has a book coming out and can’t talk about it much. Do you see where the bitching will begin? Celebitchy says it is happening while The View people deny it.

Elisabeth Hasselback, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and Sherri Shepherd all make up the talk show. How can you get all of that estrogen in one room and not have a few arguments along the way? If you work in an office, you know what I’m talking about. If you were a non-Barbara co-host, would you be mad at all the book promotin’?
