Here’s what TMZ’s been told happened … Timbaland was on the phone earlier in the day with his brother-in-law … deeply upset about something. One of the things that was eating at him was a theft at his Malibu residence a day before. Someone had stolen a crazy expensive Jacob & Co. watch — valued at $2 million — and Timbaland suspected it might have been someone he trusted.

Timbaland left his home yesterday and began driving. Family members couldn’t locate him, became extremely worried and called the Sheriff’s Department.

Reportedly the helicopter located his Escalade, ground crews pulled Timbaland over and began talking to him.

Deputies called for paramedics to come and evaluate Timbaland. After the evaluation, paramedics determined Timbaland was not a threat to himself and left.

UPDATE: Timbaland just called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, and confirmed someone stole something from him and that he was upset about it … but says there was definitely no suicide attempt. Timbaland said he simply took a drive to clear his head, when someone got a little too worried about him and called the cops.

Well, I believe what bothered him the most was the fact that he suspects someone he trusted took his watch. Do you think it’s someone very close to Timbaland? That’s a bummer.

Super-producer Timbaland has advice to give to Britney Spears about getting her career back on track. “She needs a story,” he said. “She has no comeback story. That’s the problem. She has to have a team. She needs to come back with Justin doing records; [then we'd see headlines like,] ‘Britney went back to her ex and she’s making smashes.’ [But instead she got] so big-headed and [was] like, ‘Screw you, screw you, I don’t need nobody.’ “

So is there any chance for Spears to rectify the situation and possibly work with Timberlake and Timbaland? Yes, says Timbaland — if she apologizes.

“She should humble herself and make a phone call and say, ‘I’m sorry.’ She knows what she’s sorry about,” Tim said. “She needs to say, ‘I was wrong,’ and it’ll definitely move forward. … That’s all she has to say.”

Do it Brit! We do see Britney coming back big time, don’t you?

Timbaland accepted the award & in turn presented it to Justin.

“Play more dayum videos. We don’t want to see the Simpsons on reality television,” “Play more videos.” Timberlake said.

When Timberlake accepted the Quadruple Threat Award, he again said: “I want to challenge MTV to play more videos.”

Timbaland says he invited Timberlake, his “best friend” and Spears’ ex-boyfriend, to be part of that plan.

Those were the days when Britney Spears had Justin Timberlake, a bit nerdy but cute! He was a baby then.

“I asked Justin, `How would you feel about me working with Britney?’ I had to ask him that,” Timbaland is quoted as saying. “I said, `Would you do it with me?”‘

The singer said he would, according to Timbaland.

“I just want to hold her hand,” he says. “I need Justin to talk to her. Help her, please!”

X17online.com can report exclusively that Britney left Promises last night around 6:30, in the rehab center’s SUV and was taken to her Serra Retreat house just minutes away from Promises for a visit with Sean and Jayden. Kevin Federline, who was seen out and about in Malibu earlier in the day, brought the two young boys to the Malibu house, and stayed there during Britney’s two-hour visit. While Britney returned to Promises at 8:30, Kevin spent the night with Sean and Jayden, and just brought the boys back to the Valley about an hour ago.

Whether this is further evidence of a reconciliation between the estranged couple or just more evidence that Britney is well on her way to recovery, we wish the family all the best during this difficult time.
