The former “High School Musical” star is currently making the rounds promoting “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” the 3D action-adventure sequel to 2008 film “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” and she’s doing a great job of it with her outfit, too…

Not only did she looked riveting in her daringly low-cut empire-waist ivory dress, she was engaging and charming during the interview where she talked about her “High School Musical” days and how much has changed since then.

“It’s so funny, though, because I look back at it, and I’m like it was such a crazy time, and for a while I was like, ah, it’s just this kid’s movie I got to do,”

Vanessa, 23, told Jimmy.

“Now I look back on it and I’m like ‘That was awesome. That was so bad and fun. Now I just want to get up and sing and dance.”

We would’ve loved to see Vanessa go and do just that on Jimmy Fallon, if only to see the interesting effect it would have on her chest. Unfortunately for us, the actress is savvy in those matters and used a good amount of double-sided tape on her bodice…

Vanessa walked the red carpet at the L.A. premiere of “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” in a strapless yellow Maria Lucia Hohan gown, which featured an open back and a dramatic train.

She accessorized with a pair of gold dangle earrings, a chunky cocktail ring, gold bangles, and a black and gold clutch.

Vanessa completed the look with shiny waves, kohl-rimmed eyes, a warm peach blush, and glossy coral lips.

Hit or miss?

It’s quite an unexpected look for Vanessa since she usually favors “boho chick” ensembles on or off the red carpet… but she still looks great, of course.

Vanessa wore a sheer black Jenny Packham dress with glittering gold web embroidery, which she paired with black satin pumps, gold dangle earrings, and a black and gold clutch.

Keeping in line the whole sultry theme, Vanessa accentuated her facial features with dark, smokey eyes, bronzed cheeks, and glossy lips.

Vanessa showed off some cleavage in a T-Bags maxi dress, which featured a plunging neckline and large, billowy sleeves. She accessorized with a long-chained silver necklace, a number of vintage rings, and a black leather shoulder bag.

The actress wore her short hair in a messy bedhead hairstyle and sported shimmery eye makeup and glossy pink lips.

The looker’s name is Austin Butler, he’s two years younger than Vanessa, and he actually looks like 90′s teen heartthrob, Jonathan Taylor Thomas‘ youngest brother, only smoother…

Entertainment news remembers seeing Butler in “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” a spin-off of “High School Musical” starring Ashley Tisdale, which sadly, didn’t really catch on fire.

Vanessa and Austin were in a large group, but looked very much in a world of their own. They even kissed once or twice and cuddled intimately as the mood took them. Vanessa seemed very taken, at least. Let’s hope Austin, who also moonlights as a model, is taking what seems to be a fledgling relationship seriously, and not using Vanessa‘s star power to further his career along.

Josh and Vanessa had celebrity gossip websites abuzz over their rumored relationship earlier this year after the two were spotted together at the Coachella Festival in April, and again in North Carolina a month later, where Josh has been filming “The Hunger Games.” However, after Vanessa was allegedly spotted out on dates with other guys, it was reported that the two had broken up.

But did they really break up? In his latest interview, Josh says:

“I don’t know if ‘dating’ is the right word. She’s awesome. We love being together. When I first met her, we just really hit it off. We could be goofy and silly and not worry about anything except having fun. I adore her.”

When asked about what he looks for in a girl, the actor shares:

“My parents raised me to be very accepting of people… So because of that, I feel like I might be over accepting of girls. If a girl shows any interest, I’m like, ‘Yes! I love you, you’re amazing! I like girls I can have deep conversations with. The meaning of life and existence–you can go on forever about that stuff. When girls play the ditzy, dumb thing I’m like, ‘Oh, God, please stop.’”

So does that mean Vanessa’s the “deep conversations” type of girl? Probably. She doesn’t seem like the “ditzy, dumb” type anyway, although those nude photos were definitely a point against her.

Vanessa channeled the Roaring 20’s by wearing her recently chopped locks in a finger wave hairstyle and a slinky silver Candie’s Couture gown, which she accessorized with a diamond cuff bracelet and a multi-strand necklace.

We think Vanessa’s look is absolutely gorgeous… except for the fact that the dress seemed a teensy bit too tight on her.

Vanessa went shopping at The Organic Watering Hole yesterday in a white, oversized sweater dress and brown knee-high suede boots. The short haired actress accessorized the look with gold bangles, black and gold chain necklaces, and oversized sunglasses.

The entire outfit is adorable—I’m just not sure it’s right for someone as petite as Vanessa, because it kind of makes her look short and chubby!

As reports by the latest entertainment news, Hudgens hacked off her own gorgeous long locks herself and had to gain 10-pound for her new flick Gimme Shelter, in which she plays a homeless pregnant teenager with piercings on her face, tattoo, greasy hair..

“Oh man, it’s really intense. I’m still getting used to it,” Hudgens said of her new short hair, which she cut for her upcoming movie, “Gimme Shelter.”

“Honestly, I kind of feel like a soccer mom, but we’re going to let that go,” she tells Access Hollywood. “There’s nothing wrong with soccer moms, but I’m only 22!”

When it comes to hacking off her beautiful locks: Vanessa and director Ron Krauss took matters into their own hands.

“I grabbed the scissors and started cutting my actual hair and then my director decided that he was going to grab the scissors, he grabs a chunk of my hair and just chops it,” she said.

Adding, “I miss [my hair,] believe me, I do, but there’s nothing I can do about it.”

Gimme Shelter in theaters 2012, we sure hope Vanessa wins an Oscar of some sort.

Vanessa is taking a huge risk in terms of career directions here, joining the ranks of other Hollywood stars who’ve agreed to uglify themselves for roles – a bow to you Nicole Kidman (“The Hours”), Charlize Theron (“Monster”), Angelina Jolie (“Girl Interrupted”), Cameron Diaz (“Being John Malkovich”), Salma Hayek (“Frida”), Hilary Swank (“Boys Don’t Cry”), and lets not forget the skeletonized Christian Bale (“The Machinist”).

Will Vanessa‘s bid for an Academy Award hold a candle to any of these seasoned A-list stars above?

Is it even powdery? Does it look kind of…creamy? Whatever it is, it came from a small baggie. Maybe it’s not coke! It’s entirely possible that California starlets are hooked on packets of sugary icing from Toaster Strudels. Mmm, icing.”

While Hudgens seems to have mostly recovered from the bad publicity, she says the scandal changed her forever.

I mean, it sucks. I already released a statement the first time it happened. It’s just unfortunate that it keeps reminding people about the past and not the present…It has honestly changed me, almost,” Hudgens said. “You really have to stay strong, because times get tough. Especially in this business. It’s a dog-eat-dog world. There’s so many amazing actresses who got taken advantage of.”

Hudgens credits the spiritual book, The Four Agreements, as the tome that helped her through the whole ordeal.
